1st meeting results: Bailey scores in OT as Islanders edge skidding Flyers 4-3
Video:

PHILADELPHIA -- After working overtime to grab a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday and enjoying some turkey the following day, the New York Islanders travel 90 minutes down the New Jersey Turnpike on Friday in a bid to a home-and-home sweep of their Metropolitan Division rival.

Josh Bailey assisted on two of the Islanders' three goals in regulation, then converted a pass from captain John Tavares in overtime to provide the Isles (12-7-2) with the margin of victory Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

Through 21 games, Bailey leads the Islanders in assists (21) and points (26) and is on pace for 102 points, well above his career-high 56 total last season.

Bailey credited Tavares for pushing him into the post-game spotlight. Tavares won an intense one-on-one battle with Flyers center Sean Couturier to find him for the game-winner just 32 seconds into overtime.

The Flyers (8-9-5) are hoping a return to their own building will help snap them out of a six-game losing skid (0-3-3). Only the Ottawa Senators have lost more games beyond regulation this season than the Flyers, who have also dropped six of their last seven home games.

A lack of secondary scoring and an inept penalty kill has been the Flyers' downfall in recent games. Second-line right winger Wayne Simmonds has gone 14 games without a goal and third-line right winger Travis Konecny has played 12 without one. They've also allowed eight power-play goals in their last four games.

Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has been a guilty party lately, taking two costly penalties in his past three games.

Friday's game will mark the home debut of rookie forward Danick Martel and defenseman Samuel Morin, each of whom made his season debut on Wednesday night. Martel added speed to the lineup, while the 6-foot-6 Morin provided a strong physical presence.

Dang afternoon matinees on the road give me the heebie-jeebies. In years past I would say that I'd be happy with a point but we are past that.

I expect 2 against an inferior team. Get it done. LGI!

With a game vs better team tomorrow night, I expect Halak in today and Greiss in tomorrow. Hopefully Jaro can limit the softies and we can get light it up and grab our 2 points. Be great for Beau and Chimera (who am I kidding) to get on the scoresheet and the defense to start tightening up in their zone. Can't go thru a whole season being this leaky so draw the line in the sand and get 2 today, the easy way. LGI !!!

It’s tough to win against the same team twice on a back to back so won’t be too mad it things don’t go our way. Hopefully weight is ready for the adjustment. LGI!!! This team is exciting

Odds are we lose this one by 2 or 3. We barely beat them at home after a back to back, I doubt we go into their building today and come away with the dub. At least I dont feel confident about it.

You are definitely moving up the "most negative posters" leaderboard.

JT into the empty net for the Hattie
Isles 5 - 3

Regardless of outcome its turkey dinner again WOO HOO.

So thrilled this game is 4 a clock puck drop! That is a 22:00 puck drop here in Norway and i get to see a live match and not a replay in the morning.

This will be a tough match, philly is in desp mode and will come out hard. Halak better not be so shakey as in Carolina. He gave up rebounds on dump ins

I still can't believe the entire first line is over a PPG. Barzal is just shy at .95. Does any other team in the league have 4 players like that?

All 1 PPG or more:

Tampa- Stamkos, Kuch, Namestnikov, Point
St. Louis- Schwartz, Schenn, Tarasenko
Winnipeg- Scheifele, Wheeler, Perrault
Philadelphia- Voracek, Couturier, Giroux
Florida- Trocheck, Barkov, Huberdeau

But hey, we can score some goals folks

It feels like they just continually play on the road......Well I just checked and in effective 12/9 they will have played 7 more road games than home (it's 4 after today). If they can survive this next 2 weeks you have to feel really good with them being mostly home thereafter through late January

7-0-2 at home, I believe 5-7-0 on the road. If we can catch up to .500 on the road we'd be in great shape for the second half of the year.

Oh wow. Didn't realize into was that many.

No Hickey, we won last time. I think we're 5-0 now on the season when he's not in the lineup. Just saying.

Yup. 5-0-0. 5 ROWs.

6-2 Nashville
6-3 Vegas
6-4 Colorado
5-2 St Louis
4-3 OT Philly

Some pretty good teams in that list too.
