Regardless of all the issues this team has there's also bright spots for the future. Andrae is most definitely a keeper. Michkov! One of the strangest things I've ever seen. He gets smacked in the face by Hague and he goes to the ref and says something like no no no it's fine. That was just weird but I love that guy. What a star in the making.

Frost is really struggling to win powerplay faceoffs. If he cleans that up, he'll take every first powrplay faceoff.
Frost is at 53.1% on 49 PP faceoffs

Couturier is at 55.9% on 34 PP faceoffs.

Not sure if that's updated for tonight's game, though

It was easily the best game of the season for Frost. The difference? He stopped being "cute" and went to the net on a regular basis, the tip in goal, the assist to Michkov, all b/c Frost was in the dirty area around the net instead of hanging out on the perimeter.

Farabee and Sanheim will have trouble sleeping tonight, too many great chances and nothing to show for them.

The lines are probably set for a while, time to let them develop some chemistry.
Worst game for Grans since his recall.
Risto was a beast, any PO team that watched this game started to salivate.
York looked a little rusty but is rounding back into form.

Fedotov was solid for a while, but didn't make a tough save and gave up an easy goal while Samsonov, after a shaky start, basically won the game for Vegas.

I've mentioned it before, but the whole team was struggling to win the first faceoff each powerplay.

I meant to look it up a few games ago, but never followed through. One of the reasons he was swapped for Couts on the first unit was because of the faceoffs, I'm certain of it.

He gets booted from the dot a lot. Seems he is learning to cheat on draws leading to get his % up, maybe too much at times

That was a fun game!

Andrae, Frost, Michkov, Sanheim, Risto all stood out and had solid games. That was the best I've seen Michkov play - he had a lot of puck touches, and was very noticeable 5v5.

I think Tippett needs to have a few games off. Bring back Tony Dick. Stick him with Frost and Michkov, or put Brink there. Either way, Tippett is awful at just about every facet of the game right now.

Fedotov with the ol' switcheroo again. Looks like an NHL goaltender, then looks like an ECHL goaltender.

Farabee had some good moments, but man, is he ever soft on the puck and he makes a lot of poor decisions. I don't remember him being like this in years past.

Sad to see, isn't it? What happened to him? He was the most promising young player we had just a few years ago.
I distinctly remember Giroux praising him as the next great Flyer in a tweet shortly after he was traded to Florida.

Yeah very strange. He had a great season last year. Could just be a rough stretch - but he looks like he's playing with zero confidence.

It's very strange to see criticism of Farabee after what was by far his best game of the season.

Farabee has been inconsistent, but he also shows how raw metrics and rel metrics can differ when a team is as up and down as the Flyers the last few years:

2020-21: xG 50.99%, xGrel +1.46; HDCF 49.40%, HDCFrel +1.18 pp/60: 2.74
2021-22: xG 46.56%, xGrel +0.75; HDCF 46.32%, HDCFrel +1.69 pp/60: 2.17
2022-23: xG 44.74%, xGrel -3.67; HDCF 45.63%, HDCFrel -2.30 pp/60: 1.92
2023-24: xG 51.03%, xGrel -1.88; HDCF 50.32%, HDCFrel -4.18 pp/60: 2.25
2024-25: xG 42.88%, xGrel -2.75; HDCF 48.88%, HDCFrel +3.70 pp/60: 1.10

He's still only 24, and could take that next step up like TK did.
