and our center depth is terribad. only downside of the nash trade was we lost 2 guys who could play center.

Trade for Malkin!

Johnny Malkin.

Time for Brian Boyle to step up and become the #2 center and top 6 forward he's always destined to become.

Mitchell would sure look good on the 4th line this season, but everyone said he was so horrible when he was very solid in his role. We're so lucky we lucked in Powe.

Well, ESPN America is showing Detriot - Colorado so I will have to resort to streams again tonight. I decided to watch and stay up. Took the morning off for this one.

LGR!!! Rangers are 9-1-1 when I watch live! Let's make it 10!

You been hanging out with Kershaw lately? ;)

Always a Mitchell supporter. Its truly amazing the amount of hate he got here, might be some of the most unfair of any of the scape goats we had.

The guy would play 5 minutes a game and look good in his role. Puck possession, board play, forecheck. Sure he would hold the puck too much sometimes, or make too many moves the whole johnny malkin nickname did make sense sometimes.. but he was good at what he did and with the trading of Dubi/AA, losing Prust and Feds.. I think it would have been smart to keep some consistancy in our bottom 6 by re-signing Mitch.

Outside of New York (I'm in Arizona), is the game on MSG or is MSG blacked out because it's a NBC sports game? Who is the announcer on the NBC feed, Sam or the Philly guys or neutral?

Outside of the NY DMA, you'll only be able to watch on NBC Sports Network. Dave Strader and Brian Engblom are doing the broadcast for NBC.

I have to give Mitchell credit. You couldn't tell from the stat sheet, but I thought he was extremely effective for what he was in the post season.

Mitch did get a good payday on the Avs.. he wasnt that proven like PA was... Mitch wasnt bad. but wasnt amazing either but for a 7th round pick, Sather made a good trade.. sometimes its the small trades that help the team the most..

There is a lot of irrational hatred on this board.

I honestly don't remember any real Mitchell hate on here. Most people seemed happy enough with him, they just laughed when he over handled the puck. Must have missed some threads...

People had more of a problem with Mitchell getting power play time/more minutes than other players on certain nights than his overall game. It's really a beef with Tortorella's use of him that they had. Mitchell was a solid role player. But we know from seeing Tortorella coach that if a more seasoned player is not playing well he'll get benched and players like Mitchell will get more ice time.
