2026 World Juniors General Discussion

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

This sucks. Was hoping for another Canada vs USA NYE game. Seems to be a tradition that has died. Other than 2025, the last time it happened was the 2017 (Dec 31, 2016). Eight years between games is such a downer. Can't believe they'd willingly give that up.

It’s harder without Russia. There’s a need to balance the groups. Maybe it’ll go back to that when Russia returns.

The groups are more balanced this way, though I hope that most Canadian fans stay home.

Yeah I think it will be mostly players' families in attendance at this one.

But more than that I'm just hoping for a competent management team and coaches...

coaches who will prepare...and I don't know...this may seem outlandish...but do some actual coaching.

and for Salmond to keep his nose out of it.

That is my World Junior Christmas Wish List.

My wish list is simple. Have a camp where the best players are invited, pick the players having the best years and the best camp, put those players through practices. I'd also like that Canada's power play feature players who play on the power play for their teams regularly, but one never wants to wish for too much.

Other than relatives I can't imagine why any Canadian would want to go. In fact the only reason I don't want Canada to boycott the tournament is that it would only hurt the boys involved. That wouldn't be fair.
Canada boycotting this tournament would effectively kill it. TSN is large part of why this tournament is what it is (and that is not a slight, I love it) - they'd probably be obligated to broadcast but no one would watch. You can't run a hockey tournament without Canada and Russia. As much as I love it - these past 4 renditions will have an asterisk beside them because of Russia's exclusion.

Dude, what are you going on about?...nobody is talking about Hockey Canada/Team Canada not participating...he/she + others) are saying Canadian fans will choose not to attend this one for reasons. very right reasons. The thousands upon thousands of Canadian fans that typically travel to the World Jrs will be reduced to mostly the parents and family members of the Team Canada players.

As a Canadian that has permanent residence in the USA I will still go, and it will be unfortunate if people from back home don’t end up going. I understand there are a lot of outside factors but the team will be really good this year with a lot of high end players. But it’s a free world, people are free to chose to not go if that’s what they feel

Russia is not that important, but that's beside the point. Canada isn't going to be boycotting the tournament and as things stand now has no good reason to. Canada has only ever boycotted tournaments because of a blatantly hostile IIHF. Canadian fans have good reason to not go to this tournament but surely plenty will still go.

It was a hypothetical on if Canada boycotted the tournament. Please, take it easy.
