This was a game from this past Friday, I believe. It was hard to tell from a 14:00 highlight reel between Germany and U.S.A, but U.S.A. looked more like a renegade team and opportunistic. Germany seemed more measured, but not as many offensive chances as one might expect. Great goal-keeping by Baumann at the end. Final score 2-1 Germany.

The fine print we acually lost today, we actually gained zero pts today, and Canada is advancing because it would be next to impossible to lose to Qatar ranked 66th in world. I'm not sure how Qatar even got here. We didn't even beat Bosnia. Now we face South Africa ranked 54th but worth noting we've had trouble beating actual decent sides. I think Korea a stiffer test in some respects but Korea lost today I think mainly to a size mismatch and some sloppy defending and of course lack of finish. South Africa have given a good account of themselves and punching above weight. Canada hasn't done that.

Anyway 32 teams advancing so all this "X team advancing for the first time" is kind of overstated.
