2026 Wings Summer Trade Predictions

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
This is kind of how I’m feeling. There have been comments that a Yzerman is a hard guy to deal with, which wouldn’t surprise me if that was also part of this problem.
100%. Yzerman is a Taurus they don't back down. Hopefully he sells to the highest bidder for a package that makes sense for Detroit or make Larkin's life an absolute living hell til he expands his list...

For the last 4-5 years it has felt like adding good players to this team is impossible.

Then I watch Washington add Kyrou and Tuch to their team in a 48 hour span.

Idk, maybe there is another way to do this thing.

4-5 years? More like 15 years, tbh.

Just off the top of my head, guys they've swung and missed on... Suter, Parise, Stamkos, Ehlers, Niskanen, Trouba... though I guess you're going to miss more often than not. But it does feel like it's been forever, aside from DeBrincat.

I always felt adding good players was possible but it seemed like the wings were adding the 3rd or 4th best option every ear.

Copp instead of Strome or Trochek
Compher instead of O’Reilly
Chiarot
Holl
Fischer
Gustafsson instead of Gostisbehere
Hamonic over anyone

There’s the Husso trade who was a disaster.
Losing Ned and having Reimer as backup.
Letting Lyon walk but keeping an over the hill Talbot.

Then Trouba killing a trade to Detroit.
Kreider was dirt cheap and he goes to Anaheim instead.
Just a bunch of small moves and no moves that got the wings to this current point.

The only thing I feel good about is Yzerman probably getting a top 3 best available prospect in the first round in each draft so far with the exceptions of Cossa and maybe Danielson.

If we had a different front office I would have confidence that dumping Larkin and using that return to rebuild on the fly would get us a 3 to 5 divisional seed. But with his inaction I’m wondering if he can even match the Simon Nemec trade return.

No man. Steve can’t do any wrong. The trades weren’t available, or if they were the players didn’t want to come here, or if they did the price was too high, or if it wasn’t we don’t know if we could re-sign the guys, and if we could then the players weren’t available. Pay no attention to the fact that every other team continually attempts to improve and succeeds at it!!

This is flat out depressing

What in God's name is Steve Yzerman waiting for? Does he not feel the pressure to do something? I honestly feel like Ilitch has told Yzerman he's safe no matter what

At this rate I'd be shocked if Yzerman did anything this offseason.
Ironically my buddy saw him on Monday at Crystal Downs which is on the other side of the state, so there’s a good chance he may not be working much until actual draft day. And given we only have a 2nd+, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not there at all.

They didn't miss on Ehlers though, he wasn't interested in meeting with Detroit and a number of other similar in the process teams.

I'm over the Suter and Parise stuff as they didn't win anything anyhow and that was Holland.

That said, Steve needs to do something good, it is indeed tiring watching every other team either trying to do stuff or doing stuff while we never even hear Detroit is in on anyone. For example, Nikishin is available, would be nice to see "Wings are in on him", but of course we hear nothing, and he will go for a reasonable price to someone else.

I don't think so. If Steve doesn't do something significant this offseason, I think we will either see him fired or moved to another role next summer. Fans are growing very impatient, so I think the clock is definitely ticking on his time here.

I guess I just don't know which trades some wanted? Once Larkin requested out I figured we weren't gonna sell futures anymore. Not at least until we know what the Larkin return is.

What if the offers are all dogshit or Larkin says no like a brat "i only want to go here blah blah blah" we aren't in these meetings. I rather do nothing than a garbage move. Just like at the TDL I was begging to STAND PAT! I dont want to burn our pool just to get in like dumbass Holland did to keep that bs streak going!!!

Ignoring Debrincat, Kane, Gibson, and Faulk for a moment, you’re comparing apples and oranges here. The last 48 hours have been an aberration, there was more activity on big names than for most if not all of the past several years combined.

And we also haven’t been in a situation where we’re forced to enter a red hot market with a major piece. Perhaps we should see what he actually does before assuming anything. Not unreasonable to think entirely different circumstances, as they exist now, will lead to a different approach.

A lot of names have been ticked off the available list and we aren’t even mentioned. If we don’t get McTavish plus others who is left? Surely to god we aren’t getting Walstedt from the Wild.

Respect your willingness to go down with the ship.
