Well.....what a dumpster fire the past two years have been. We have left better players off these teams that should have been there. Our management is overthinking things and it reeks of politics. Not withstanding that our two best eligible players -- Bedard and Macklin, weren't there, Canada had other talented players to send and they didn't. What does your TC look like next year?

The only player I see making the NHL from this draft is Hagens. Schaefer is my #1 pick, but finishing this season recovering from an injury and the fact that cracking an NHL lineup as an 18 year old D-man is very hard....I'm gonna predict he is back in the O next year. I also think Lindstrom and Sennecke have a hard time cracking the NHL next year, and even if they do, may be made available for this team anyways.

Lindstrom - McKenna - Sennecke
Catton - Misa - Martone
Iginla - Hage - Greentree
Beaudoin - Luchanko - Parascek
Desnoyers

Schaefer - Parekh
Dickinson - Danford
J. Smith - Mews
Dupont

George
Ivankovic
Ravensbergen

Bearing downward momentum in his development, Landon Dupont should 100% be on this team next year.

Emphasis on should, not will.

Why was the potential 1st OA not on team Canada? Too young? He's just under a goal per game pace in the OHL though. Even if he is young, how do you leave that kind of production off your team?

I posted this in the 2025 thread but here:

GM: Kyle Turris
Coach: Gardiner MacDougall

NHL: Schaefer, Celebrini

McKenna-Catton-Sennecke
Misa-Desnoyers-Martone
Iginla-Lindstrom-Greentree
Martin-Luchanko-Boisvert

Truth be told this is the deepest year I can remember for forwards, there could be another B team of forwards here that could do the job; Parascak, Hage, Cootes, Bear, Carbonneau, Reschny, O’Brien, Beaudoin, Kindel, Zonnon, Behm, Spence, Preston and on and on

Dickinson-Parekh
Smith-Verhoeff
Aitcheson-Brunicke
Dupont

Another extremely strong group. Size, skill, and speed. Not as deep as the forwards but I could see names like Elick, Marelli, Reid and Mews being options

Ravensbergen
George
Ivankovic

Another really strong group, all proven winners and Ravensbergen would be my pick

This should be an impossible age group to f*ck up, given the record amount of first round talent in 2025 and basically everyone available bar Celebrini and Yakemchuk from 2024, and the presumptive first overalls in 2026 and 2027, and another few top 5 candidates in 2026. But with Hockey Canada and their band of dinosaurs, you never know

He doesn't need to be given his age and frankly McKenna didn't "need" to be on this years team either.
Canada should have real camps and competition and take the best players with maybe a couple of "specialists" and otherwise take speed and skill.

Didn’t someone point out that the GM is already identified?

Dave Brown of the Erie Otters?

Should be a good team. Canada has 17 first rounders born in 2006, and it is very likely that Martone, McQueen, and Spence join them in June, maybe Bear too. First rounders are not the be all and end all but as a rough barometer it is a good sign. Strong crop of 2007s as well, plus maybe DuPont. Canada has two returning goaltenders, also a very good sign. It will be interesting to see who is in the NHL. Celebrini won't be available, and after that it is a significant question. Guys like Misa, Martone, and Schaefer are likely to be very high picks soon, and it wouldn't be shocking if Anaheim wanted to do the take things slow approach with someone like Sennecke. There is also the threat of random players surprisingly making rosters. Also a few health concerns like Lindstrom.

Realistically, no matter the NHL absentees or a few health issues this team should be very talented. Hopefully the coaching staff is able to elevate the players as opposed to acting as an obstacle. All of the posted teams look very good so far.

Would love to see this

Mckenna (18)-Catton (19)-Martone (19)
Misa (18)-Lindstrom (19)-Sennecke (19)
Iginla (19)-Desnoyers (18)-McQueen (19)
Spence (19)-Luchanko (19)-Beaudoin (19)
Boisvert (19)-Hage (19)

Dickinson (19)-Parekh (19)
Schaefer (18)-Brunicke (19)
Aitcheson (19)-Danford (19)
Smith (18)-DuPont (16)

George (19)
Ivankovic (18)
Beckman (18)

Martone
Schaefer-Catton-McQueen
Mckenna

Sennecke
Parekh-Iginla-Lindstrom
Misa

Luchanko,Spence,Desnoyers,Beaudoin as the main pkers. Would love to see MacDougall be the coach as he knows the age group and has had success with them. Lots of size, speed, and skill in the forward group with a top 9 potentially being all top 10 picks. Would have Hage being the 13th forward and filling in for any top 9 injuries and Boisvert filling in for anyone on the 4th line. Defence is solid as well and would be fun to bring DuPont along. Nice to have goalies returning with Beckman getting experience for the year after.

Tons of talent on the “B” team as well

Greentree-Roobroeck-Parascak
Bear-Martin-Carbonneau
Lakovic-Reschny-O’Brien
Vanacker-Cootes-O’Reilly
He

Reid-Gill
T.Smith-Mews
Elick-Lavoie
Verhoeff

Ravensbergen
Gardner

Would be very hard for Hockey Canada to screw this up but we will see….

Why is Canada always building a team for the following year in this tourney?
They simply aren't. We're usually complaining that they leave off more young talent. The fact that they had four under-agers this year was shocking. We also usually go with a bunch of 19-year old goalies. This tournament we went with an 18yo and a 17yo for back-up.
