Watching the highlights on NHL's YouTube channel, Sean McDonough must have blackmail on someone at ESPN.

He's the most boring, monotoned, least excited announcer I have EVER heard on a national broadcast. High danger chance off the post? He sounds confused, not excited. Doesn't know what's happened.

Play moving at a fast pace and a goal happens? He'll sound just as confused then feign excitement a couple of seconds after the goal with a "heeeee scoOOOres!"

This guy stinks. No idea why ESPN hitched their wagon to this loser. There are SO many other great PxP guys.

Bob Wischusen would have made for an unreal call in this game with that comeback then the OT winner.

Sean McDonough is also the guy who somehow found an O in Achan and called him "O-Shan" all game.

Wanted to throw that guy into the O-Shan listening to him.

The contrast between Cuthbert's call in 2022 and his was astounding.

"A dynasty will be denied! And a new legacy begins! They've reached the summit! And the Colorado Avalanche are 2022 Stanley Cup champions!"

vs

"Annnnnd COLOrado has won the stanley cup."

TBF Gary Thorne's call in 96 wasn't much better.

"Score! The Coloradooooooo Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup."

Everybody has trouble pronouncing Colorado at some point though. Kind of a marble mouth word. Always assumed he was just making sure he didn't mess it up since they were a new team.

Reminds me of an old Dana Carvey joke, about how you can't say "Judicial System" without sounding drunk.

Thorne had some absolutely great calls though for Cup winners and key goals. I give him a pass on 1996 as it was triple OT and his voice and brain were tired by then

McDonough though is just awful
