2026 NHL Draft: We won #2! Reid or Stenberg for the win; taking Verhoeff is a drafting sin!

  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
Too much of a discount to move up as a "throw-in". Add our 2nd in 2027 (future offer sheet flexibility) or #41
I apologize for the short answer above....I hate it, and I did it...so sorry!

First off the offer came from several Shark fans...........but here is my thinking

Would you trade 2 - 16 OA picks for a 6th OA pick?

Probably not........

Hronek would check all the boxes of many of the top 10 this year.............

Smits, Carels, Varhoeff, Rudolph, are all in that ball park................"IF they actually hit their ceiling....but hey might not!

Hronek did hit his ceiling........he is of that value, albeit older, and that is my point

If any of those prospects reach the top 15 OA RH or LH defencemen, they will be hitting the ball out of the park

Hronek did and is that..............

I feel crazy every time the offseason plan to get us into “contention” is to get a guy who has like a 95% chance of signing with Tampa Bay and trade for another guy who, by all reports, does not want to be moved nor does the team want to move him. And then of course, Pohlkamp, a rookie who may not even be an NHLer as far as we know.

@sampler my question to you is how disappointed will you be when none of these happen because I give them a sub 5% chance (and if I’m wrong I’ll gladly own up to it).

I’m not sure he’s recovered yet from War not winning the Jack Adams.

Let's say we make these deals - who will you target with the picks?
Feel free to include another option (in case you do get to move up further from the #20).

It depends. There are 100 possible things that could happen, some not even on the radar.

However, if Grier goes dumpster diving again like last year, I will be extremely disappointed. The team earned some help on the back end. Going at it against sans a single top 4 D would be to throw in the towel on a season with real potential. I hope Grier does not do that.

I’m ok if raddysh or Hronek do not come. I just hope somebody really good does.

Honestly I have zero faith is Griers ability to build a winner through trade and ufa. I didn’t like the Sherwood trade or signing particularly. I still don’t. But, we’ll see….

Nah, team folded late. Wat is still learning. But I think he did get the most out of what he got. After all, leddy klingberg, desi… bluch….asky as a sieve. The forward kids have developed very nicely. You gotta give war some talent on the back end and then you’ll see what a good coach he can be….

He has the right temperament and right approach. Just needs the horses….

As you can tell, I am a bit of a dream........ok, big dreamer!

But the Canucks would then have the 2nd, 20th, 24th, 33 and 41 picks

We 100% try to move one of the 20th or 24th picks up........I would add retention of either LHD M. Pettersson or LW Jake Debrusk (either 1). If memory serves me right, it would move a pick up 4 spots..............but here is what I would do.........Sort of going off of Tankathon's draft projections....too lazy to find a good one!

#2. Ivar Stenberg (F)
#17 (24) Adam Novotny (LW)... with DeBrusk (value a 2nd) and maybe our 3rd to get us there
#20 Maddox Dagenais F)
#33 Tobias Trejbal (G)
#41 Adam Goljer (RHD)

If we walked away with that..............I would have to have a cold shower!

But who is kidding......nothing like this ever happens to the Canucks!

Sorry Shark fans, they merged my original proposal, and I thought I was on the big forum......

Sorry Everyone! I'll let myself out!

You're one of the more pleasant guests we've had. So pleasant- and so lost (main board <--, canucks board -->)

I don't mind you though, good proposal. Bystedt is a better fit on that proposal than Musty is for the Canucks. They're the same tier of prospect, but Bystedt seems more likely to contribute to me.

Not trying to monopolize, sorry. I would rather get imput from a broader source. I have big enough rose galsses already! Seriously, getting opinions from other fan bases, gives you a much better, more objective, out look........are you saying I should go?
your proposal is better than most i saw on this board. i don't see why ppl gatekeep as long as ppl are civil since it's really good to get different perspectives as you were doing.

as for hronek trade, the trade value is there but since NMC, likelier to try to propose MPetterson for now but Hronek could be available perhaps later.

I just don't see Debrusk having that kind of value.

Hello Shark fans, I am a Canuck fan, and as such, have followed the Sharks build their team. The Sharks are my second favorite team, and I feel you guys are very close to being a top 10 team, maybe even top 5 team for the next 10 years. I am envious to say the least.

I have a proposition (Trade proposal) for you guys, that you might like????I would like your imput on this.

Vancouver trades 2026 - 3 OA pick, and Filip Hronek
to
San Jose trades 2026 - 2* OA pick, 2026 - 20th OA, and 2027 - 1st (Top 10 protected)

*Vancouver agrees to take Ivar Stenberg or Gaven Mckenna
, whoever is available at #2. I tried to make this trade fair, in the light that, I feel San Jose, get the best of both worlds in a immediate transfusion in Hronek, and the best Dman of choice.

The reason the 2027 -1st is addd, is that San Jose needs to put something additional ino the trade of value, and I honestly think that the addition of Hronek, makes San Jose a contender or a team moving up and into Cup contention. IMO, you get the best of both worlds. So do the Canucks.

As I say, I am a secondary Sharks fan, and I would be estatic to make that deal, especially as, I think the Sharks take a DMan, anyways

As this is my first ever post, I may have put this in the wrong forum, and I apologize if I did, but feel this is more about the draft than anything, which is why I put it here.
I would do that trade in a heartbeat lol

"this board highly undervalues Eklund. The trade proposals have him at a late 1st in value. That’s way off. He has a high ceiling and just hasn’t hit it yet."

100% agree. Look at the last 3 years. All 3 Cup winners had "small" guys (and some big guys) who never quit, consistently go into the corners and fight for the puck and create scoring opportunities. Eklund does all of this. We need him. Put him with Misa and someone else (Stenberg?) who does the same and we have a solid second line for years.

Just a quick thank you to my southern brothers and sisters. Thanks for the ideas and perspective. Just know, when you guys win the cup I will be cheering. You have 7 years, then lookout! LOL
Oh yeah, you know, thanks, eh!

In all honesty, I think a Hronek trade does make sense and I think geting Stneberg is a big win for van. The last 4 years, the sharks unloaded burns, hertl, meier, and EK 65. In return we got a ton of prospects and futures. Van is obviously in a similar place. Trading Hrnoek makes alot of sense for you guys. I also think it would be wise to consider plucking some of the sharks prospects.

Cagnoni is a boom or bust LD potential target. Bystedt is a future solid 3C option. Musty is a potential top 6 power forward. Lund looks like a reasonable middle 6/3rd line W. Hantunnen looks like a potential PP sniper and top 6W. He has a serious NHL shot already and good size.

There are alot of ways to structure a deal that can help both teams given the stages of rebuild. Swapping and is no problem for the sharks as I think Grier would be happy to get Reid there. The #20 is also definintely available as I thik grier is not looking to add more mid level prospects to a pool full of them. and all the prospects above have solid value too.

If Van wants a pick/prospect package for Hronek, the sharks are a very real partner. For both of our teams, I hope it happens, though I won't hold my breath.

Given Buium, Willander, Petterson all 22 or younger, I could see vancouer looking to add some good young forwards and Stenberg would be a great target for you, while Ried is a good target for us.

I think you need to change your name and stay here full-time. This is the place to be. My name suggestion would be MalhotraFan71. You know, both a nod to your new coach, a nod to your new Sharks draft pick Caleb Malhotra, and 71 because that is Torrey Mitchell's number backwards. I miss Taco Torrey.
