For the Board Mock Draft, Verhoff literally got only 2 votes. Carels got 51. Bjork was closer so was Smits.

Im hoping for Carels over Verhoff. I actually had him over Reid. I think he is more complete. But I don't dislike Verhoff. It wouldn't be a Lias Andersson throw the remote at the TV kind of moment if he was selected with the #5.

But the player im hoping for the most is Stenberg. Trade into #2. Use the #5, toss in Schneider.

Not sure what that implies? I didnt vote for Verhoeff either. He’s not my first choice with other players on the board, but if he is the Rangers there i’ll still be excited with got him.

No implying anything other then NYR Fans at least here were overwheling in voting for Carels over Verhoff. I don't see too many people advocating for Verhoff, while 51 posters were selecting him with the board mock.

Im not a Verhoff hater either, but i do have others ahead of him.

Im just not seeing why Verheoff is bad to some people. I dont see the skating issues. And he was 17. Thats insane. We may have all been psyoped and this dude might be the best player in this draft.

He lacks pop to his first 2 steps, has really stiff hips and his footwork is pretty clunky. He's not good at using his edges to create lateral separation either.

There is room between "Rempe bad" and "good."

Him being 17 has nothing to do with any of the above. He's easily the poorest skater of any of the top D in this year's draft class which is going to cause some hysteria here as this place has become skating obsessed. I'm more worried because it has clear impacts on several areas of his game.

I think @effen was the one who said it - But you can tell that his brain wants to do things at times that his body just won't let him.

yea it’s unfortunate that he is at his prime at 17 and has no room to improve anymore. The defenseman who easily blew the other top dmen out of the water at the combine in fitness. Mr stiff hips himself.

I really think that Stenberg is going to fall. The teams at 2-4 are going to go defense. Just watch
I dont think you are far off. I just dont see why Stenberg is considered so good and the other guys are "for sure" below him. I think everything after 1 is a crapshoot.

He had the 3rd highest points in a draft-eligible season in SHL history (behind only the Sedins) and 2nd highest points per game. He's a REALLY good prospect

would be so good.
It seems that everyone available at #5 is basically in the same 'tier', if that's the case IMO you go forward. Overall it seems more likely you can nab a very good defenceman somewhere else in the draft. But good top-6 forwards mainly seem to come at the pointy end

Can the draft Gods do us another solid with both picks?Owes us after Lias,Crapsoft and Dylan M
Still can't believe Gorton didn't officially go with Necas in 2017, they spent months scouting Chytil enough times they really should've identified Necas as the guy at #7, he would've changed everything. Gorton liked the Euro prospects too so it sucks. We also should've had Pettersson but ended up with the AliExpress version. The Krav cheese draft I have so many differing opinions on because he had all the elite tools to be a scorer in the NHL and prove he was worth being a top-10 but it just wasn't meant to be because he didn't want to really live a life in NY or here in the USA at all.

Stenberg falling to #5 would be some retribution for that 2017 Lias pick.

Stefan Cherneski
Alexei Cherapanov
Hugh Jessiman
Sanguinetti
Montoya
Blackburn
Brendl
Brown
Ferraro
Stewart

Taking Stewart instead of Tkachuk in 90 was the first time I remember losing my mind over a NYR 1st round disaster (too young to remember passing on Bossy…twice!).

If only that young man knew how bad it was going to get…yeesh!

I haven’t done the analysis, but I just can’t fathom how another team could have a worse record with 1sts than us.

Wonderful that he proved that he has the wind to still have gas left in the tank after being hemmed in his own end for three minutes :thumbu:
