Cape Verde ties Uruguay. Up in the press box Luis Suarez looks like he wants to bite down on a Winchester instead of a center back, for a change.

And now @Hoek doesn't want to fist fight Cape Verde's goalkeeper.

That's good, though. Lord knows scrappy little Argentina needed a break.

Egypt beat NZ 3-1 which significantly increases our odds of avoiding Belgium in the R16. Nice
Yeah, but Egypt doesn’t look like an easy out either to be honest if they get past Bosnia and get Egypt in the match after that.

Meh, still better than Belgium who have already demonstrated a massive mismatch with us with that 5-2 smackdown a couple months ago. Neither Salah or Marmoush are fast counter guys that can chase down a long ball, our swarming counter press will make it hard for them to see much of the ball because I don't think Egypt's backend can get around it the way Belgium can. Doku absolutely wrecked us by contrast. Our main hope should we face them is that he's still out with that respiratory issue or his baby gets born that day.

Sure, the US have the edge in depth and athleticism but Egypt has bigger individual talent. It’s a toss-up imo. Would be a great match.

I think I saw Egypt’s round of 32 matchup might be Senegal and Senegal is no scrubs either.

It could be a bunch of teams. 3rd place matchups depending on which groups send a 3rd place team. We might even get Senegal or Norway or something which would be terrible. Root for someone to win that Bosnia/Qatar match because if they tie, eliminating each other, we might get boned.

I heard African teams complain about bad hotels and bad food, and blamed it on a certain politician. But I'd say they're simply getting what they have booked and can afford. Food shouldn't be bad though, but I think they mean too much burgers, fries and hot dogs.

In comparison Norway is staying at a 5-star hotel, and they have booked a football stadium as their training facility. They also brought 2 tons of food from their homeland, not because they don't trust local food, but burgers and steaks...no thanks.

Btw Norway with chief Haaland will play Senegal at 8PM EDT tonight.
