Noticing ASP isn't exactly made of Charmin either. Seems to be pretty sturdy for his size. He's obviously not built to be running people over, but he doesn't play that pure finesse game where it's just poke and pray because of being too scared to take the body.
ASP is elite. His IQ is through the roof on ice. He's going to make our team so much better and man is he clutch. I think we see him in Detroit as soon as the SHL season is over. Can't wait.
I never "HATED" the pick. I expressed my concerns about his size and defensive play in his draft year. I've talked him up since watching him more in Skelleftea last season and a little bit this year.
I love the offensive upside and how well he can control the game from the backend, and I appreciate how much better ASP has become defensively. He still makes me worried about how he'll handle physical play in the NHL and whether or not he'll become Adam Fox, Shayne Gostisbehere or Adam Boqvist. I think those are legit concerns.
The WJC defenseman scoring record is 14 points by Peter Andersson back in 1985. ASP is off to a good start, he's got a chance. I think it will come down to how much offense Sweden can get going against tougher teams as Slovakia isn't exactly a force.
