Really fun game to watch. US legs looked very heavy in third on the back to back. Tons of skill on this US team but way too many mistakes with the puck and off the puck. When you watch the Bs play the layers and gaps happen almost organically and then you watch these teams that are put together for a short tournament and the difference is startling, but it makes for exciting hockey. I have sympathy for the US kids, when the tourney is in Canada they are playing six-eight road games in a hostile environment and that has to be exhausting. NYE game should be terrific against Canada.

My God...team Canada are the honorary Bruins thus far...most penalized team so far...undisciplined...make it look hard...make the opposing no name goalie look like a world beater ....

It should be a good game on New Years Eve between Canada and the US

The winner of that game will win Group A, and be in good shape for the playoffs, while the loser (if in regulation) could drop down to 3rd place and will have a tougher road to win a medal, because Finland has a good chance to finish second in Group A with a win over Latvia

Here are the updated standings...

When I get frustrated watching Canada, I have to tell myself they are still kids. Not NHLers. Hope they win but not going to flip out of they lose.

And, McKenna is going be a superstar!!

While Canada still produces the best players, the gap has really shrunk with the top 6 in
hockey.

In the early 70s thru late 80's it was really a two nation race. Now the US, Finland and Sweden can beat Canada and its not going to be considered remotely a shocking upset.

Wanna feel old? This is the 20 year anniversary of this game. :help: Lots of big names. Bergy MVP

And everyone's favorite, "it's a double Dion!"

Amazing that with future superstars Crosby and Ovechkin out there, the majority of the highlights are Carter and Getzlaf. They looked to be dominant in that moment.

How did the Red Wings get Sandin Pellikka at 17? Looking like the best D of his draft, 3 selected before him.

Despite Craig Button's constant slobbering over the guy, he's small and has only average mobility, it remains to be seen how his game translates to the NHL level.

Germany and Latvia are 2-2, Latvia killing a delay of game penalty, 2:51 to go.

Germany, needing to win in regulation, went to 6-on-4, Latvia scores empty netter.

Now it's 3-3, over two min. to go, Germany cashes in the PP, wild finish here.

It’s surprising to me that US and Canada have only met 5 times since 2017. I get the split brackets and all that just still a surprise.
