Being outshot 55-22 is not exactly that deserving of a win, but their goalie (Feldbergs) who stopped 53 shots and then 8 more in the shootout was unconsciousLatvia deserved it
Nope. Did some digging after the first period. He's an overager with no ties to any pro club anywhere rn.Being outshot 55-22 is not exactly that deserving of a win, but their goalie (Feldbergs) who stopped 53 shots and then 8 more in the shootout was unconscious
..but the Canadians deserved to lose by getting into some penalty trouble and then couldn't score more than two goals (including the shootout)
Did any NHL team draft Feldbergs??

I imagine that probably changes after this tournament.
Factually incorrect.So.....
Canada = Toronto Maple Leafs
Latvian goalie = David Ayres
It looks like this Canadian team is similar to last year: too many passes and fancy stuff and no finish. Still, they are just kids so I don’t get bent out if shape if they lose. It’s always an interesting tourney. US/Canada on New Year’s Eve will be a good game tooThat might be the most pathetic group of guys i've ever seen in a shootout.(big claim as a Bruins fan i know) Holy shit Cowen's attempt had me cackling.
Canada played like assholes for most of the first two periods with all the dumb shit they tried to do with constantly trying to go between the legs, drop passes, etc instead of just trying to brute force what is a much weaker team on paper.
Despite the lopsided stats, Latvia deserved the W for how they played those last 5 minutes. Should have been dead after the Canada PPG to go up 2-1, battled back and then threw everything including the kitchen sink at it to keep the game from ending in OT. Absolute respect to a gritty, gutsy effort and even though i think the US takes them apart tomorrow, they earned every bit of the high they're on right now.

Feldbergs is 19 .Born Aug 2005..Plays in Q for Sherbrooke.In the Q you can carry 3 players at 20 and you get Euro spots if they choose that route .Pretty sure it was each team gets 2 Euros .Anyhow ,if he was 20 they would be burning 2 spots on 1 player which in my books would not be smart and more proof he is no overager.How can you be an overager in tis tournament? I thought anyone born with a 2024 birthday is ineligible?
mentioned earlier in this thread I didn`t like the way Canada responded to the push by Finland in game 1 , I was at a WHL game so didn`t really catch much of this one but from what I did, tried to make video game plays, played undisciplined, even had Cameron screaming at them at one point.Canada is undisciplined, and it cost them. What an effort by the Latvians.
