Even though Canada won 4-0, I wouldn't be surprised if Finland finishes with a medal

I thought they outplayed the Canadians in the 3rd period, but Canada had the better goaltending and an empty net goal

Many of the guys on this list may never even sniff the NHL, but it's amazing how we are the only ones who have 0 participants
Granted, Groenwold, Pelosi, Dans and Loke aren't at the head of the class but in a few years at least a couple of them will be on the ice driving those that are crazy.

It looked to me like a similar Canadian team to last year. Some trouble finishing until later in the game. Last year Canada won their first game and never got back to that strong of a play. Some teams, like Finland as you say, get better as the tournament goes on. Might be a US/Finland final for gold again

I don’t think it’s indicative of much. This tourney is literally my favorite sporting event. But I don’t think it means much in terms of future NHL production .

It's hard to tell after one game, but I feel like this Canadian team has a little more potential than last year, and better goaltending (so far)

It's gonna come down to goaltending, PP's and who wants it more out of Sweden, Finland, US, Canada and Czechia

Is it a product of the lack of quality prospects we have though? That's concerning to me if that's the case.
I don`t think so, not sure the Bruins have any high end prospects but that doesn`t mean there aren`t some quality kids, not easy to have those high end prospects when you haven`t really had a high pick in years and/or no picks at all in the 1st round

If you look at the list at the top of the thread, most of the top tier teams have few prospects in the tournament

Florida- 1
Carolina - 3
Colorado- 1
Dallas/Oilers- a pair each

Really isn`t a full picture of their prospect pools is it?

agreed, that PP of Canada`s wasn`t great, more than a little worrisome the way Finland completely dominated Canada in that final frame.
