Hockey Canada continues to get far too cute with it's roster building. Between the tip top of their talent going straight to the NHL and the world getting better, they can't get away with extremely questionable roster building the way they used to. Far too much coach/GM nepotism towards their players and seniority with guys who should be pushed aside. You could seriously argue the players they didn't bring could comprise a better roster

I might be biased, because they are two guys that I see a lot of, but I have no idea how Misa and Hage didn't make this team, especially Misa. I don't know if he will ever have a chance to play in a WJC because I think he will be in the NHL next season.

Wasn't one of those fluff WJC shutouts either, especially as Finland started pressing there at the end

so damn smooth and efficient, yet aggressive/assertive in his decisions, which always seem to be right (great reads). nice combo. If anything, issue with rebound control/tracking in this game, but not a big deal. Really liked the nonsave/read maybe a few sequences in where the finland player is looking to make a pass across the crease...he didn't overreact. The pass got broken up by the defender and other goalies may have gone sailing past it too aggressively but he just calmly made his move and stayed in full control in front of it. great use of depth without backing in too far--Kind of lundqvist-esque on that, he loved to play deep to make the cross crease move short, as opposed ot quick who was practically at the top of the crease exploding across--especially at his size.

Incredibly technically precise, super impressive control in his movement.

I just now realized there is no "T" in the name SLUKYNSKY. I keep using the name "Slut" for short since his name as way too many consonants. Yes, i'm an idiot. I think i need to simply go with Hampton (much easier).

Lol. Just call him Hammer like every team he's been on has done. Even his high school team at Warroad called him Hammer.

Since George was better than Ivankovic and Slukynsky better than Augustine, in the games played, I think George and Slukynsky get a shot to run with it, for each team, if their next games are good.

I would be shocked if Team USA didn't have Augustine in goal for the knock-out rounds. He's just a fantastic goaltender who has already won a gold-medal on this stage last year, and is just an elite talent who has shown it time and time again (NTDP, Big Ten, WJC) But the Kings have to be very happy with Slukynsky, it looks like he may be another great college find by the Kings to go along with Faber, Laff and Anderson.

I agree on Canada, I don't think they will throw a 17 year old draft-eligible goaltender into the knockout rounds.

I am so stoked by the Kings goalie pipeline - can't believe how far they've come from just a few years ago.
Eh. After Bernier and Petersen, I am going to forego all hype until they’re actually good in the NHL. Nothing before that matters.
