I didn't realize David Carle was Matt's younger brother. Friedman was talking about how NHL teams will be throwing a lot of money at him this summer. The Flyers are good with the oldest coach in the league, though.

I haven't been posting here lately because it's understandably miserable around these parts.

I was hyped watching the Americans pull off the comeback and win but it was a harsh reminder of how stupid our front office is. Watching Buium, Perrault, and Hutson kill it while everyone talks about how huge of a steal Buium was in the draft...

Fans like to think they know better than GMs but you can't tell me that this board wouldn't have collectively built a better Flyers squad over the past 5 years than what we have right now.

I haven't had to read anything that verbal diarrhea artist posts for several years now because I'm smort, I can work the ignore button!

Let's wait 3 years before we decide anything.

Well, it's better than one WJC, otherwise you'd have to downgrade McKenna and Catton (1 point in 5 games playing the lion's share of ES minutes).

I think three years is reasonable for judging whether a prospect is likely to live up to the hype.
At the NHL level, at least one full season to see if a player's progress is a mirage or for real.

Current Flyers roster players: has been awful for a calendar year, but this latest 18 game sample size is indicative of something.

Prospects the Flyers passed on: best on best tournament is worthless, wait 3 years.

I don't believe in the WJC small sample size, but since this got thrown out in the early going as a "thing"...

Buium - 2G, 4A
Luchanko - 1G, 0A

Perreault - 3G, 7A
Bonk - 1G, 1A

Hutson - 3G, 7A
Just wait for that EDM pick.

That's a bad start of the first 6 months for the next 3 years of waiting and seeing.

The good news is these guys will have botched development, someone will piss on them just like with Frost or others, they will get traded and then, THEN it will just be water under the bridge, focus on the future

Exactly, perennial champion and winner everywhere he plays, Buium would not fit into the traditional culture of Perpetual Mediocrity the Flyers are pursuing.
