It was sickening watching the refs ignore blatant fouls and diving (both mostly by the US) while any minor garbage was called on Canada

Fine. though would have given it to Hutson for D...but I have seen stranger things. Stancl was impressive.

Stancl was great. I guess they didn't want to give the US team all the awards.
He is a clown. And those aholes give him MVP. Hutson was the MVP.
The head shot by Eiserman was a ridiculous non call.

I had Hutson as MVP too. For me, it wasn't even close.
I did keep his post.....lol. Can't wait to see the nothing burger with the Caps.

AS I said before....the Caps won the World Juniors. Now, it has to be translated in the NHL...
But Mateiko, Leonard and Hutson....what a great tournament.

It looks like Canada seems satisfied with these QF losses if we take what was said in their interviews at face value, allowing the US to start a period of domination.

Protas is 23 and is on his way to a 35 goals and 60 points season.
McMichael is 23 and is on his way to a 35 goals and 60 points season.
Sandin is 24 and is on his way to a 35 points +28 season
They have Leonard, Cristall and Cole Hutson as prospects. They have a couple of interesting suspects like Lapierre, Protas' brother and Miroshnichenko.
US wasn't that good but none of the teams were. If Canada brings back a lot of the players from this year they won't be worth watching.

I’m very happy with Michkov, thank you. No regrets… I can’t wait to see Leonard do his clown show in the NHL with Ds that are 6’2+ instead of 5’10.
A lackluster team Finland once again carried to a medal by a stunning goalie performance and clinical finishing, nothing new here. Not really impressed by anyone outside Rimpinen, who might be the only one with an NHL future in that team alongside Helenius (who was totally invisible in the tournament despite the 4 assists against Sweden) and maybe Kiiskinen.
Considering how badly even Fantilli is struggling I don't think that Leonard will really be much of an impact player for his first couple years at least. Hagens was very impressive for USA though, would be an amazing center to add to this team even if it sadly looks like he'll remain way out of our reachI’m very happy with Michkov, thank you. No regrets… I can’t wait to see Leonard do his clown show in the NHL with Ds that are 6’2+ instead of 5’10.

This year's U18 NTDP team is probably the weakest I've seen since the program moved here to Plymouth from nearby Ann Arbor. Next year's U20 team will not be getting much help from there. Repeating again is unlikely, IMO.
I know the USA team is not well liked around here, but I was thrilled by their performance this year. Winning back to back gold medals for the first time was huge for the program. I've watched quite a few of these kids for two years in the NTDP (have season tickets), so I'm very happy for them.
