Newhook is far more talented. He may never put it all together but it was a good move to try to shorten the rebuild.
Don't think it was a good move personally. Newhook was 22 and a half and he was getting close to the point a young player wont make huge progress anymore. Dach was the right move imo Dach was only 21 and a half and a 3rd overall pick with size made complete sense. I was not a fan of Newhook move at all personally but it's a potentially minor mistake in the grand scheme of things.

Could be watching Edstrom and Wahlberg, but we get to see Newhook

Ultimately, Colorado didn't take Edstrom, although Edstrom & Wahlberg were definitely players I wanted at those picks.

Colorado took Mikhail Gulyayev (LD), a small-ish speedster on D then traded the 2nd to TB for Colton, who is 4 years older, makes $2m more & puts up comparable numbers to Newhook. He is better defensively, though.

TB took Gauthier, who doesn't look like he'll be an NHLer.

Frankly, I think it's a wash. I would have liked to have kept the picks and pick Edstrom & Wahlberg, but at the time I thought it was a decent risk to take.

I don't know what Yzerman was trying to do. Hughes was likely trying to get the team in contention in 3-4 years. So guys like Suzuki could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
True and that's not a bad thing except when you're adding a player that brings nothing new to your team. Not nothing like he's a bad player, but nothing that you don't already have.

It's why I see Dach as acceptable, as you were adding a 6'4 centre instead of a below average size winger.

Yeah, if they took Gauthier with one of the picks that would be disappointing.

It was heavily rumored they were going to take him, too. In fact, I'm pretty sure Gauthier out-right said they were going to take him at that pick if he was still available. Of course, TB took him with that pick. :eyeroll:

I'm kind of glad we moved that pick, so we didn't have to deal with passing on him. Lol

Well, Sweden is destroying Kazakhstan 8-1. Shots 42-13. Latvia - Canada should go the same way. The junior tournaments really miss Russia. They need one more good team and one less terrible team.

I don't understand...did Schaefer thought the goalpost would smoothly stop him?

No matter if you have a NEED at forward, if you have a chance to draft Schaefer and you don't, you deserve to be fired.
I love how I talk negatively....they score. I talk positively...they get hurt. f***in curse...

Why didn't Berqvist play?

He played. He got 16:04 of playing time. No points, but was +2. ASP had no points, too.

A huge game by Wahlberg. Damn, I loved that kid in his draft year.

Bergqvist seems to be the #5 guy on the team.

And, while, people seem to think ASP is the #1 D on the team. He isn't. 2 consecutive games he's been clear #3.

Lindstein & Wallinder are the top pairing. ASP then plays with either Hallquisth or Bergqvist on 2nd pair.

Hurtig & Gustafsson are bottom pairing.
