It's certainly looking that way at this point. No matter if you have a NEED at forward, if you have a chance to draft Schaefer and you don't, you deserve to be fired.
He had a good hiding place nobody panned in on him that I recall.

Newhook is far more talented. He may never put it all together but it was a good move to try to shorten the rebuild.Could be watching Edstrom and Wahlberg, but we get to see Newhook
Trying to shorten the rebuild just ends you in Detroit territoryNewhook is far more talented. He may never put it all together but it was a good move to try to shorten the rebuild.
I don't know what Yzerman was trying to do. Hughes was likely trying to get the team in contention in 3-4 years. So guys like Suzuki could see the light at the end of the tunnel.Trying to shorten the rebuild just ends you in Detroit territory
Don't think it was a good move personally. Newhook was 22 and a half and he was getting close to the point a young player wont make huge progress anymore. Dach was the right move imo Dach was only 21 and a half and a 3rd overall pick with size made complete sense. I was not a fan of Newhook move at all personally but it's a potentially minor mistake in the grand scheme of things.Newhook is far more talented. True and that's not a bad thing except when you're adding a player that brings nothing new to your team. Not nothing like he's a bad player, but nothing that you don't already have.I don't know what Yzerman was trying to do. Hughes was likely trying to get the team in contention in 3-4 years. Yeah, if they took Gauthier with one of the picks that would be disappointing.Ultimately, Colorado didn't take Edstrom, although Edstrom & Wahlberg were definitely players I wanted at those picks.
Colorado took Mikhail Gulyayev (LD), a small-ish speedster on D then traded the 2nd to TB for Colton, who is 4 years older, makes $2m more & puts up comparable numbers to Newhook. He is better defensively, though.
TB took Gauthier, who doesn't look like he'll be an NHLer.
Frankly, I think it's a wash. I would have liked to have kept the picks and pick Edstrom & Wahlberg, but at the time I thought it was a decent risk to take.

It's why I see Dach as acceptable, as you were adding a 6'4 centre instead of a below average size winger.

Not only that but Finland is not very good this year which makes it even worseWell, Sweden is destroying Kazakhstan 8-1. Shots 42-13. Latvia - Canada should go the same way. The junior tournaments really miss Russia. They need one more good team and one less terrible team.
Why didn't Berqvist play?Well, Sweden is destroying Kazakhstan 8-1. Shots 42-13. Latvia - Canada should go the same way. The junior tournaments really miss Russia. They need one more good team and one less terrible team.
He did play. Why didn't Berqvist play?
Thanks. The forst page of the scorecard on IIHF ended with his name and the rest of the team was on then 2nd page.Maybe Schaefer drops a few spots now
He did play.
I love how I talk negatively....they score. I talk positively...they get hurt. f***in curse...No matter if you have a NEED at forward, if you have a chance to draft Schaefer and you don't, you deserve to be fired.
