El Arouch has apparently left Botafogo after only few months with the club. For personal reasons, said to be ransacking of his apartment, at least he got away unharmed from the ordeal.

This week would be a very good time to (start) get those contract extensions announced.

It’s not just that they’ve done nothing. They didn’t do the extensions. They didn’t get a team for the multi-club model. There has not been anything tangible. All we’ve done is loan out Bajcetic and Danns, and give a vote of confidence to James McConnell.

There is still a lot of season left and we haven’t become any less reliant on the injury prone members of the squad. The summer is going to have to be busy, but who knows how that is going to shake out, Hopefully they will be buying for a position of championship strength, but they have to get there first.

That being said the one thing Hughes did do was get Slot, and that’s been the best addition anyone’s has made thus far. But there’s nothing else positive that has happened

I think they don’t want to announce, one (or two) at a time, because that will make anyone unsigned look really bad. This is a very delicate situation to handle. Now that’s part of the job and you have to handle it, but this situation is a shit sandwich

The whole leading the tables thing is great as long as they are leading the tables. And even with that, the noise is pretty loud that there’s not enough being done. Also there’s a middle ground between spending like City and doing nothing, and it’s not like we don’t have the same holes that we have had for months either.

On another note. Seeing Pep spend this January, really should make people appreciate that Klopp was able to qualify for UCL with Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams. That’s one of the best non title related manager accomplishments of all time

Two other "prospects" on the move this window:

-Lucas Gourna-Douath from RB Salzburg to Roma on loan.
-Nicolo Fagioli from Juventus to Fiorentina on loan.

I’ve liked Gourna-Douath a lot whenever I’ve watched Salzburg.

Hope Gloukh moves this summer somewhere on that level or maybe a bit lower. I think he’s earned the step up already. Nothing left at Salzburg, especially as messy as they are right now.

I had a quick look after @Savant ‘s post and saw numerous articles saying “up to 40%”. Numerous articles is meaningless since they are probably rehashing the same thing, but I wouldn’t rule it out.

That said, if what Savant posted after that is true, Porto paying 6 million to get 20% of that back, then it’s not a big deal. First of all, that 6 million would go to us. We also then retain the leftover 20% which is a further 12 million. So that’s 18 million instead of 24 million.

Also though, Porto presumably paid us for Gonzalez initially. I say presumably because Transfermarkt has a “?” for the fee. I saw 8.5 million on a forum tonight which sounds reasonable. So essentially 26 million for Gonzalez all told. I’m very happy with that. IMO he’s not a 60 million player. Hopefully he does well and I’m wrong, and he’s not even in my fantasy setup, but 26 million for him is fine by me.

Porto selling Galeno and Nico Gonzalez for €110 mil combined is outrageous. Neither of those players are worth anywhere near what was paid for them.

it's funny with all their resources and wealth, the top clubs can't originally scout and buy these players in the first place and cut out the middle man. Arsenal is one of the worst, I don't remember the last time we made a Martinelli level of purchase.

I honestly thought he’d end up at Leipzig, but after that Simons transfer I’m not so sure it happens.

Oh, and this reminds me, on Sunday when I did a search for him I saw a story about Atleti being interested. I don’t think that’d be a good move for him though.

In terms of local talent, I'd say we are top-notch, but life would be so much easier if a team had a better scouting network in must-need places like central Europe and South America. It's actually pretty funny, I was watching AFTV's transfer deadline show and one bloke mentioned that most of Arsenal's sales have been from homegrown talent which cost them nothing, so we're making a lot more money than a team like Villa who keeps buying talent like Diaby and making a small profit over it.
