Transfer: 2025 Winter Transfer Window - Rumors and Discussion

One good performance from him and then Man United will spend 60M on him after they sell Garnacho
There was talks of 80+ million from a couple of clubs (likely not overly serious) after that Newcastle game and the following stretch of form where he looked amazing.

I mean United are a lot of things but they do bring young players up. Guys like Amad, Mainoo, Garnacho all have snagged spots in the last couple years and then you can look at guys like Collyer who were given a chance.
I guess you haven't paid any attention to INEOS rebuilding process? They're going for young players to replace aging ones. Also, 16 year old Godwill Kukonki has already been in hte squad as an unused sub.
And Arsenal have had Saka, ESR, Nelson, Nketiah, Nwaneri, and MLS all within the last ~5 years (obviously varying degrees of playing time). And we have a pretty rich history/culture of using our youth players under Wenger before that.

Amad and Garnacho weren't even internally developed youth players. Man United bought them at 16/18. I guess that's irrelevant for Heaven, because that's the same route for him, but Man United doesn't have any better track record than Arsenal does. I'd argue it's worse if anything.

Saliba and Gabriel are untouchable for the next ten years or so while he can easily burst into that Man United team very soon. It makes sense.
I hope we do have Saliba and Gabriel for the long term, but that's not set in stone. And Gabriel is 27, so 10 years is overestimating that.

And if he thinks Man United are going to be relying on him instead of spending 50M on a CB, then idk what to tell him. Hell, the media claims we play 4 CBs every game, so we actually have more spots for Heaven to break into than Amorim's back 3.

Maguire's not getting younger and Evans has maybe one more year in him, if that. That opens already couple of spots in the next couple of years . Edit: apparently he's been thought of as a first team signing and cover for Martinez already. :eek2:

There's a lot of issues with United at the moment, but the one thing they do consistently is develop youth and give them a chance in the first team. Not all of them stick, but the youth is always given a path to the first team. And there's definitely an easier path to the United first team than there is the Arsenal one at the moment.

Surprised no EPL club offered more than 60M for Boniface, but he's heading to Saudi. Brighton's Ferguson has been linked to Leverkusen as a replacement.

I'm not saying Man United haven't done it. I'm saying that Arsenal has an equal (or greater) track record at promoting their youth players recently.

Is Heaven closer to breaking into United's squad than Arsenal's? Yes, because we have better players already in our squad. But I'd rather be training with Arsenal's first team to learn from them, while also knowing that the chance of me breaking through at either club is still pretty even. And let's not pretend that United are going to sit on their hands and not buy a CB in the summer just because they signed him.

Could use some editing or something, my goodness.
They spent the budget on that Twin Peaks/David Lynch tribute video.

Heaven was bought to be back-up for Martinez. Lindelöf is leaving in the summer so he's definitely getting replaced. But that's the only reason United need to buy one (unless Evans calls it quits). United need depth and right now there isn't.

Fab saying add-ons are worth 5 million €, which are apparently not easy to reach.

English media will have spun that into 35 million punds by the end of the week and 40 million by next week.

I don’t see it with Tel. Don’t think a move to the PL helps him out either. Think he needs space to operate

Part of the reason why Heaven didn't extend with Arsenal is because he wants to continue developing in midfield, his original position.

And this first team argument is a rehash of the one made with Obi Martin and yet the guy is still stuck playing u18 for you guys.

I don't think he was intended to challenge Höjlund or Zirkzee. Obi Martin took forever to be approved by the FA too, he's mostly been getting in shape with the U-18s. He can play with the U-21s now too with Ethan Williams loaned out.

So basically the same level he was already playing for Arsenal...

Heaven will be joining him in the youth team, not playing any meaningful minutes for the first team. But sure, go ahead and believe some tweet that said he's going to be backing up Lisandro.

I see it. But he's 19 but needs some playing time with a good coach.
Maybe? I don’t see him at striker though. Especially not in the PL; maybe at left wing? But I don’t think he is great in traffic/with physical play. But ceiling is still sky high if he can get unlocked. Just don’t think his weaknesses are any easier to hide in PL

That makes a lot more sense because he was putrid as a CB, so effing slow and no athletic ability. Reminds me of a poor man Doucoure.

Tel isn't getting sold and if he is, he's going to Chelsea before United lol. Bayern wants him to replace Kane down the road, he isn't going anywhere and @Savant Tel is effing amazing.

Tel has a nice tool kit. I don't think he is amazing. I don't think he can stay at #9. I do not think he should go to PL. I think there is a nice player in there, but I don't think the Bayern move did a ton for him. He needs to do what Ekitike did and go somewhere that plays to his strengths and where he can get a ton of minutes. I do not think going to a big PL team would be a very smart move for him.

Bayern hasn't handled him all that well. I think the managers want to play him more than they end up doing (all 3 of JN, Tuchel, Kompany). He probably should have been loaned out the past two seasons. Bayern fans really love him, but I don't know he's shown enough in his limited starts for the front office. Agree that a lower tier Bundesliga team or Ligue 1 or Serie A club would be his best move versus PL, where he would just get loaned out before being sold in 2 years.

For sure. Talent is obviously there but Bayern is missing something/they see something that we don’t which is why they haven’t given him the keys. Maybe some teams saw what LFC did with Gravenberch and just think Bayern pooped the bed here; but still I wouldn’t necessarily expect immediate returns on that. I think a PL move is insane. I think this is reminding me a bit too much of Joao Felix where you had a positionless forward having trouble getting minutes and then is kind of trapped in the infinite. And Felix was arguably more highly regarded than Tel ever was

He should. Not trusted and other teams willing to pay, we need all money we can get

Well for the record it’s not my call, but I would obviously offload him too even if I think 10 million is a bit low.

As for being trusted, he’s staying in large part because Flick trusts him and wants him to stay.

Edit: waiting for the future domination of Godwill-Heaven pairing.

I don’t care about the player news or Arsenal being United’s second academy, but good song.

Assuming they’re both there for the next ten years.

Twin Peaks announcement cancels this out and then some. Should have saved the money from this one and added the log lady to the first announcement.

I’m not considering PSR. Even still, I’d probably take a punt on Gyokeres first.

Side note, one of the GMs in my fantasy keeper league paid the equivalent of 65 million for him only a year and a half ago. f***ing Saudi has hit all of our teams, but at least I think my 9s are all safe.
