2025 Weather Thread

I remember that very well, and for those thinking those temps aren't too bad, they are in F, so it was 24 straight days with high temps below -20C. Link to the daily temps for that month:

I remember how proud everyone was of surviving that stretch. Simpler times.

@Drivesaitl shared that with me a few years ago. I was alive and living outside Edmonton at the time but have no memory of that. Epic cold, without any of todays creature comforts - insulated heated garages, fancy vehicles, clothing advancements and so forth.

And schools never closed! Plus everyone walked no matter what the temperature. Few families had two vehicles, fancy or not so there was no driving kids to school. We also played outside at recess.

As anybody thats born and raised in the prairies knows, you can easily deal with the cold. Bundle up and you’ll get used to it and be fine. It doesn’t become a serious problem until the wind starts blowing. You can’t protect yourself from that. Man, that wind was howling today.

The several feet high snowberms are almost gone now. Not because any of have been removed but due to melt. This is what we get I guess for our increased and excessive taxes. No snow removal of any kind. Just plow it to the side of roads and leave it there ALL WINTER. Culdesacs are all a mess. Backalleys that had one foot rails of ice. Drive on them like a train on tracks. lol. Cars with less clearance bottoming out last week.

Finally was able to get to my dad's to shovel today. f*** me. Took almost 4 hours. My back is toast. I blame my parents for not being Hawaiian.
