2025 USports Recruiting

I was assuming this was for next year . If that’s the case then it looks like this is the new Xmas trend . Not sure why it’s been so quiet on ECHL guys since the rule changes have no impact on them.. unless they are waiting on CIS rule changes to allow them to finish the year in pro …Anyone remember how many we saw last year leave the Coast?
I believe there were 7 Xmas additions. Mostly in CW.

Eric Barnard Pembroke CCHL - Brock OUA.
Having a monster year in tier-2.
I enjoy the USports recruiting process and transactions throughout the year. I should probably start paying more attention to the leagues outside of CHL.

SMU
Dylan Andrews - Summerside EX Q

PEI
Simon Hughes - Charlottetown Q

Toronto Metropolitan University
Matthew Gallant - Whitecourt. Ex WHL
Austin D’Orazio - Utica NCAA D3

I will say Jr.A is a lot “sloppier” than CIS hockey but sloppy hockey can be very entertaining hockey, young kids , lots of emotion, it’s very fun to watch. Plus I’m sure we will start seeing more MHL guys in the AUS.

Not picking on UNB (yes I am), but the fans are used to top tier CHL talent. I'm not sure if they will like the kind of hockey you envision. The MHL guys are not good enough for the CHL or NCAA, but the current roster certainly is.

That may be the future for CIS hockey....

Jack Drover would be happy.

Yeah for sure , I was more implying that if you want to follow one of those leagues it’s in our backyard to watch live and it’s very entertaining .

Do I think we are going to see more Jr.A guy and less high end CHL guys? 100% but I cannot imagine a world where we start seeing bottom 6 MHL forwards and 5-6 d-men in the AUS.

The talent gap from a Spencer Blackwell or Slava Melikov to “Jerry 4th line forward” is generally a pretty massive jump in tier 2. Those are the kind of guys along with bottom half of the lineup CHL players or guys who are a victim of the 20 year old number game that I see filling out the spots once held by elite overage players on AUS teams . Will the talent go down? Sure , but it’s not going to turn into a continuation of the MHL.

The 1 year minor pro thing hasn't happened yet, but I'm told it will. If that's the case there may be some ECHL guys this spring.

I’d have to imagine the top CIS recruits will come pretty late in the recruiting game (they already kind of do) since I’m sure everyone wants and believes that they should be getting an American offer .

Yup, same as any other year. You'll see some LOI's but we seldom see actual signings until summer or early fall. The big difference this year will be the number of guys committed to NCAA, some of them would be CIS signings.

If USports allows guys to return after a year of Pro, commitments will come even later than that for all but the most academically-focused players.

Mathis Perron
Amherst MHL - UQTR
3 years in the Q putting up pretty solid numbers , arguably the best player in the MHL.

Zach Marquis-Laflamme
Truro MHL - UOIT
Another 3 year Q guy , captain in Truro.

Reading this, it looks like Myles was a Christmas addition? Looking at their past games his 1st game was Jan 15.

Lmao! You are correct , I was going through the NOJHL site and they had these listed in a way that made them look like they were for this year . My bad!

He's been on Dal's roster since the start of the season. The only reason I remember is that they misspelled his name (Quinn Miles) originally which made it more difficult to find anything about him on the net.

Yeah I remember him thinking back as well, I basically copy and pasted the NOJHL site last night without properly checking elite prospects , lesson learned but he was on the roster this past fall, I randomly have the program from the home opener on my dresser lol
