GDT: 2025 U18's

You guys scored 4 against Sweden.. 4 against us and 5 against the Swiss. Some nice offence! Congrats on quaeter

Thanks, if only we could defend, especially when short handed. 41.67% penalty kill, will not get it done. And that stat may look worse after we played the US.
But it's fun to see some offense from these guys. Usually we're lucky if we score 13 goals across 2 tournaments.

Can't say that Finland hasn't had a good amount of chances that they probably should've capitalized on.
Who should score for Finland when out top line ( Pakarinen Orpana Westergård )
are basically only-ones who have ''skill'' to score that line has carried Finland starting for Norway and Latvia games.

That line's domination vs Norway and Latvia created ''optical illusion''
which got peoples to believe Finland is ''good''.

No we ( Finland ) didn't beat Norway and Latvia because we were good.
We beat Norway and Latvia only because they were shittier than Finland.

Being honest Finland should be going to relegation round instead of Norway or Latvia.
But that will not happen because Norway and Latvia sucks more than Finland.

You should probably put me on ignore if you won't accept or don't like any deserved positive things said about Finland or Finnish players... and no, there's no "optical illusion", Finland has created plenty of chances and have played well. That's pretty clear to me. The combination of Ivankovic playing amazingly and some lackluster scoring ability from the Finns has made this look worse than it is.

I agree that the skill of goalscoring is lacking (which makes me wonder why no 08 born forwards are on this team) but to say that Finland deserves to be relegated is some crazy amount of hating.

Just an absolute brutal showing for Switzerland

It was actually a very good game. Outshot and outchanced a very strong German team despite being essentially a one line team. Unfortunately failed to convert all the odd man rushes into goals and because of that, Schenk's dumb penalties lost the game. Then in the end, the rested Germans just had more energy left.

Game was a coin flip, as it often is between those teams. The Germans won which is fine. Doesn't mean the Swiss played a bad game. They didn't. Especially given the lack of offensive firepower on the roster. They created about 10x more offense than during the previous three games in total. The only one who had a bad game was Schenk.

More so the whole group stage than a particular game, but losing to Germans in a must win game is never a great look.

Games vs Germany and Slovakia at WJC's are historically almost always tight. You win some, you lose some. This time it was a very good and German team while the Swiss had a weak forward group and played a tough, tight and physically demanding nailbiter vs Czechia less than 24h earlier. The loss wasn't a given and the way the game went probably avoidable, too but the odds were in Germany's favour. No quarterfinals this time because the groups happened to be unbalanced but that's fine.

I'm the nr.1 SIHF basher on hfboards but I thought the Swiss team played a good tournament. Coaches for some reason decided to leave a leaking goalie in net for the full 60' vs Sweden and then start him again back to back vs the US...which does make the results look way more ugly than necessary but as a team they played well...minus the horrible discipline vs Sweden maybe.

Vass in for Wahlund for Sweden. Sörqvist might be starting with Goos as backup, otherwise other way around.

New lines too:

JIW - Frondell - Stenberg
Ekberg - Gästrin - Björck
Klingsell - Nilson - Theo

Yeah no idea what was Namejs smoking. This team is not good. Mūrnieks shut down for most of the game on the offensive end, might need to get him going by putting some other players beside him... maybe someone like Klaucāns... but don't think that will happens as Sorokins have made no changes in the top 3 forward lines all tournament long.

Well at least Šmits looks really really good.

This Latvian team is also soft. The last two goals prime examples on it. There is no fight, not going to the front of the net, just skating around after whistles. Previous teams at least did have that.
