Price is not an issue with Manson. If you move on from all three sure you free up almost 11M but you have to spend that money on a new 2nd pair RHD and a 3rd line winger who can chip in offensively.

Finding that defenseman would be hard in UFA and almost impossible via trade given our lack of assets.

Ekblad is the only RD who can play second pairing and might hit the market next summer. He's even more injured than Manson, he's not much better, and he's going to cost significantly more both in term and AAV.

Give me Manson 1 X 4.5M over Ekblad 7 X 7M.

That group would be $79.325M. So they'd have $16.175M left for 5 or 6 roster spots.

IMO you could sign Malinski and Kivi for a combined $3M or less. People here think Kivi is set for some big pay day but ultimately before this year he'd basically never scored above 10 points in a season and even this year ultimately 23 points is pure 4th liner production. When Miles Wood got his 6x$2.5M deal he was coming off 5 straight seasons with more points then Kivi just got this year.


Kivi gets ~$1.5M IMO on a 1-2 year deal, and Malinski gets the same or less. Drouin comes back on another team friendly deal as its clear this is where he wants to be more then anythingelse, I'm betting they give him a few years teem this time though, something like 4x$3M.


Then you're left with ~$10M and you have to sign a 2C, a #3LD, and maybe add a 13th Forward.


That would reasonably allow them to spend $7-7.5M on a 2C, $1.5M on a Dman, and have $1M leftover for one more forward.
