Rumor: 2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency | The Aftermath

I honestly am open to an even larger roster shake up in the off-season as I think we’re going to continue a slow painful decline after this season.

There’s the players who are easy to move on from (Wood, Colton) although it may be difficult to move Wood. The players who we could probably move on from (Coyle, Manson). Then the players who they might need to look into moving (Lehkonen, Girard). Then there are the players they should look to bring back (Lindgren, Malinski, Drouin and maybe Nelson). We’ll also have a more clear indication of what Landeskog is, but I’d be shocked if they’d be able to move him so hoping he’s a solid second liner is the only prayer we have (I will assume he’s a third liner at best).

These potential moves leave us with an incredible amount of uncertainty, but could help maintain a window longer and hopefully also improve our team long term.

Lehkonen would have to be a giant overpay. Otherwise keep him and agree with the rest. Also Necas pending his playoff performance

There are a few players that you can't trade - MacK, Makar... Lehky is in that group. You don't trade someone who can play anywhere and make an impact. Especially considering how clutch he is.

Yeah, this is pretty much the deal. There are no *real* untradeables outside of those two.

I'm certainly not rooting for a Lehkonen trade but they should do what they gotta do after this season.
Lehky is not untradeable, but he should be at or near the bottom of the list for sure. Ditto Nuke. Ditto Landy (although he is pretty much untradeable - he would sooner retire)

Agree. Makar and Mack are untouchable. Everyone else can be traded but Nuke and Lehky should be at the very bottom of the list in terms of availability. Same with Toews since Makar likes having him as his D partner.

I don’t think we should be actively trying to move Lehkonen, but if people start calling I don’t think we should hangup. I get that he’s been clutch historically, but I think not considering trading him is short sighted in terms of the long term success.

We could either majorly recoup draft assets and prospects or look to make a hockey trade. For example Batherson for Lehkonen might be something the Sens look at as they need better two-way players in their lineup.

Trading any of your top guys would have to be a hockey trade imo. Who cares about assets in the context of where we are at in our contention window.

This team doesn't have long until cups are completely off the table. Ice the strongest rosters possible for a couple of season and worry about the fallout afterwards.

Yep and low on assets. Would have been nice to get a 25ish year old 2C signed for a few years
Very low on assets. They can maybe package Gulyayev and some first rounders and after that there is almost nothing left.

Things would have been much better if CMac didn't spend a truckload on his #2C quest.

Yep very bad asset management but if ae can win another Cup it would help ease the pain.

Anything other than a Cup and they should clean house

More I think about it Lehkonen might be the guy to trade. He has been underpaid and if he wants what he’s worth the Avs can’t afford it. He has significant value. Finally, he’s not going to age well. The way he plays, combined with his size just isn’t a great mix. This may be a guy you want to sell high on and recoup some assets. A hypothetical trade I’m referring to would be if Nelson walks and we need a 2C/assets to acquire a 2C.

Truly awful but I love the Mikko trade and the Lindgren trade.
There are quite a few moves to like.

Rantanen trade
Newhook trade
Fixing the net with Blackwood/Wedgewood
Colton for a 2nd is pretty good business
Getting picks for useless players like Meyers, MacDermid and Tatar.

But then there is the bad and it's certainly not flattering.
