Rumor: 2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency | The Aftermath

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

To everyone who’s been saying for months that the team would be better off with Rantanen instead of good depth: where are you hiding now? :sarcasm:
Really pleased to have four effective lines that we can roll. We have versatility and flexibility. The ability of any of the lines to score is going to put a lot of pressure on the opponent’s D.

Not sure where to post this. Unreal!

Very impressive considering that prime Giroux was one of the best C's in the game. Wondering how much score effect plays into this because surely it's higher now than when Giroux was younger than 27.
Ya it's also a bit misleading because Giroux was never known for his goal scoring prowess. Any way you slice it though, Cale scores goals at a rate rarely seen for dmen.

So weird that he wasn’t given the absolute howitzer if a one-timer he had.

That Flyers team that had Richards, Carter, and Giroux (and I want to say Patrick Sharp was there too) could’ve been great, but as usual they got impatient.

Did you hate Jeff Carter back then too or it only came later?

No I was okay with him in Philly, I kinda soured on him after he seemed to pout his way out of Lumbus (but I guess...if you don't want to sign there, don't sign there), but it was that cheap shot on Cale that really turned me against him. I always thought he was kinda dirty before that, but that solidified it for me. Obviously not based on any real logic, just me being a homer and what not.

I really, really liked Mike Richards back in his prime though. Hell of a player. The way the Kings and Dean Lombardi handled him made me hate that guy way more than I ever hated Carter.

Weren't there some salacious rumors as well that forced at least Carter out? -- on top of the classic Flyers desire to take it out of the oven when it's half done. I can't recall if those were ever debunked.

Jeff Carter, hell of a professional. I know him well.

Worked super hard to achieve everything he had. Came from very honest upbringing. His mother Sue continued working her 9-5 job at Ellis Don even after he was making $7m per season, the family is very humble. Never let the money get to Jeff’s head.

I have a lot of time for JC. Beauty of a guy.

There was the whole "Dry Island" thing that came out later, I don't know how much credence to give those sorts of stories. I really don't think the organization that embraced the legend of the Broad Street Bullies gave a shit how hard they partied off the ice.

As far as I understand it, that 2010-11 season that ended in a 2nd round sweep featured a three-goalie tandem that underperformed and reportedly pissed off Old Man Snider, so the Flyers went out and signed Ilya Bryzgalov and punted Richards/Carter to make room for him, or something like that. Oh and one of the goalies that was part of that three-goalie tandem? Sergei Bobrovsky, whom they traded in 2012. Didn't realize one of the picks they got in that deal was used to select Anthony Stolarz.

Well, I trust your opinion. I certainly don't think he's a bad person, but I didn't like that hit. Whatever, it's in the past now. His name is on the Cup twice, his legacy is secure. I'll never deny the guy was a hell of a hockey player though.

Cheap shotted Makar.

I always thought Carter seemed like a prick and that was before his shot on Makar, but truthfully always thought he got talked about more than he deserved.

He had one good playoff run and otherwise his numbers were pretty much ass - he broke 80 points exactly ONE time lol.

His time in Pittsburgh was mostly bad.

No one faults him for aging. But that move was so trashy. Jeff Carter was once a big deal. But even at his best, he’d have to climb at least two ladders to be on Makar’s level of significance. Sorry, but the mental glitch, where he felt entitled to do that is pure Jerry Springer Show. But what’s weird is in all the “playing hard is honorable”, where was it the rest of his time in Pittsburgh? When that happened Penguins fans were thrilled he lost ice time. So much honor in that. It was a cheap, trashy, and opportunistic move.

And I respect RIAL a lot. But this is a big L.

Your mistake is thinking I’m serious even 50% of the time.

Of course it was a dirty play, lol.

When I say stuff like good old Canadian boy, it’s sarcasm.
