What do you guys think about Ryan Donato? Is he an inconsistent breakout player like Vatrano, or one-hit wonder?
I’m not holding my breath for Marner, and I’m not a fan of Boeser, and Verbeek doesn’t look like someone who would make an offer sheet (Knies!). I think the odds are we will miss again, but I think it’s ok as long as our youth keeps moving forward.
My guess is Verbeek will again turn to low risk trades hoping for some value like Dumoulin/Fabbri that only takes a mid-round pick. What do we think about these underperforming forward options to hold things down until Sennecke is ready?
-Kevin Hayes: size, starting to get good on faceoffs, expiring contract. Leason replacement?
-Colton Sissons: good on faceoffs, expiring contract, right shot. Lundy replacement?
-Kirby Dach: maybe he can be of some value like Cody Glass turned out, right shot, expiring contract. Leason replacement?
-Ryan Hartman: 2 years left, but has produced inconsistently, gritty, right shot, below average faceoffs.
I think the realistic UFAs would be:
-Ryan Donato: might be willing to take a Vatrano type of 3 year deal.
-Jack Roslovic: Right shot, first year doing well on faceoffs… poorman version of Boeser?
-Tanner Jeannot: probably won’t happen especially with Ross still on the roster, but I’d like him and he might be cheap so why not.
-Trent Frederic: probably won’t happen but again I want players who can give space to our skilled forwards. He probably gets paid though…
-Brandon Tanev: a Fabbri/Mcginn replacement?
-Andreas Englund: probably the best cheap physical LD to help Gudas/Trouba who look worn out.
-Luke Kunin: right shot, gritty, but below average on faceoffs.
-Nico Sturm: maybe this offseason Stenlund, faceoff ace but unfortunately he shoots left.
