Whoopee cushions also make noise.

I find that if I expect nothing but an AHL trade with Toronto, that all the trade times become much less soul-crushing.
IMO the Ducks are in that phase of the rebuild cycle where they just don't have much that is available to other teams. They've got their young players that are the future and they seem to like the veterans currently on the roster. 1st round picks are still too valuable for them to trade away. Except for Dumoulin and maybe Fabbri there really isn't that much that is interesting to other teams. Trading Gibson is possible but not probable and this isn't the time to trade Zegras. So what's left to trade?

Things you shouldn’t trade yet, spare parts, and money for overpaid free agents that you’ll come to regret.

Is there any world Ducks fans would consider a Mittelstadt+2nd for Zegras trade?
For any trades for younger players, Ducks should be adding on their side for an upgrade, or at worst a 1 for 1 for a better fit. If the primary piece requires a plus coming back, it wouldn't be worth it for Anaheim. Ducks need high end offense... and defense. Basically high end everything but goaltending.

In addition to Dumo and Fabbri they should also trade Leason and Lundestrom if they can get any takers

It's time. They all need to be gone.

Unless there's a clear upgrade, the defense is still crowded next season with Luneau pushing to make the team. I don't see any changes happening other than Dumoulin traded.

At forward, if the Ducks are going to take a step next season, they don't just need to add to the top 6, they need to rebuild bottom 6. Fabbri, Lundestrom, Harkins, Leason, and Johnston all need to be replaced.

wouldnt mind Lundy being shifted over to a winger on the shut down line. Make him into cogs type role player. Can’t score but can shut down

Yeah I think improving on some of those vanilla/filler/low impact guys could do a lot to raise our bottom line. The latter two have shown some promise at times but neither will likely ever be a consistent offensive producer and the standout qualities just aren't there to be high end character players. They are NHL quality but not pushing the needle, replacement level.

I definitely think that the closer the team finishes to a playoff spot, the more aggressive PV will be in the offseason
I'm all in on overpaying for Rantanen or Marner. Top line forwards don't go UFA often, and you could make an argument for either of these guys being top 10 forwards in the NHL.

My only concern is that he overpays for a guy like Sam Bennett when he misses out on the top line guys.
