Realistically, I don't think Luneau/Zellweger and the 1st provide much value for Ottawa. I'm sure their ears would perk up if it was McTavish and Sennecke though. Or Carlsson 1-1. Ottawa doesn't need to settle for less right now.

Your basis that Ottawa is going to be forced to trade Tkachuk b/c he demands a trade is speculative at best and he is 3.5 years away from UFA status so they aren't losing him "for nothing" any time soon.
Everything on trade boards is speculative at best…. It’s essentially a fantasy board/thread. But I assume you know this based on your eichel trade talk history and how much “speculating” you did there

There’s also been reports of brady wanting out(I don’t put a ton of stock in it, but still smoke and allows discussion)

Anaheim has no reason to offer mctavish + sennecke because no one is going to be close to that offer

No need to get sensitive...you made a proposal and it wasn't particularly well thought out IMO since you are fundamentally wrong that Ottawa risks losing him "for nothing" any time soon. Working under the current reality, there is no reason for Ottawa to trade a budding superstar for anything less than a premium return. If he does someday formally request a trade then we can discuss what a fire sale trade might look like. But that isn't the situation right now.

I think the reason ott trades tkachuk at some point, is because he makes it clear he wants to go somewhere else…. You can’t lose tkachuk for nothing.

Realistically I think a deal looks like

Mctavish + Luneau/zellweger + 1st

Maybe lesser pieces, that’s a pretty tough trade package for other teams to match
And we would happily trade that package too

Sennecke is untouchable

Yeah, I wouldn’t get too excited about the chances of Brady hitting the trade market.

He is Ottawa’s captain and on contract for three more seasons. They can wait and see how the team progresses over the next two years. (They are already currently in playoff position.)

While I agree it’s very unlikely, it could get interesting if Ottawa misses the playoffs this year. Tkachuk’s NMC kicks in July 1, so if he decides he wants out, they would be smart to deal him before he has that power.

Hasn't he spoken publicly about not wanting to leave Ottawa? I realize people can change their mind but I thought he's been pretty vocal about liking it there and wanting to stay?

Tkachuk is being given the Zegras treatment...

Yeah those "rumblings" about Tkachuk earlier in the year were similarly speculative, about whether he would want to play for a team that continued to struggle. They have since really turned it on and played to their potential, which should squash whatever miniscule chance there was of this being a thing. He's the heartbeat of that team, the emotional barameter as someone called him during this tournament.

Fabbri is replaceable internally, but how do you trade Dumo right now? 11th hour deadline deal is the only way I see him getting moved judging by how we are playing. Only 6 games until the deadline, we'd have to lose almost all of those to be really out of the race.

If they lose all or most of them, they are out. they would be losing to Buf, Chicago and potentially twice to Van giving them a leg up for the WC2 spot.

Dumo could still be traded regardless of standing imo, Minty/Zell vs Dumo isn't too large of a discrepancy.

I'm probably ambivalent regarding trading anybody for mid or late round picks. But...if trading a guy like Dumo opens up more ice time for any of the young D while we truly battle for a playoff spot then I'd rather move Dumo and give those guys the experience at playing under more pressure even if we ultimately don't make the playoffs.

IOW, keeping Dumo to have a better chance at squeaking into the playoffs means less to me than giving young guys a chance to develop and prove themselves in critical situations.

I'd prefer all of our other young players getting PLAYOFF experience than both Zell/Minty getting minutes over the final 20 or so (meaningless) games. Competition between Zell/Minty/Helleson is a good thing IMO.

I could see trades like

Zegras for Cozens

Lunderstrom for Kastelic/Veleno

Leason + for Hoglander

Dumo/Fabbri for picks if not kept for playoff push

Dark horse: Blockbuster deal with Canes. If they don’t use him as a rental, something around McT + Zell + Gibson + picks for Rantanen + Kotchekov/Andersen. This of course is with Mikko willing to sign long term in OC.

small tweaks and maybe a blockbuster that aligns the forward group with Pat’s long term vision.

If Rantanen does become available and he’s willing to sign an extension here , there is no way pat doesn’t kick tires . Given Carolina gave up Necas, I have a hard time believing they’d let him walk. May be the first time we see this scenario with this caliber of a player

Regardless, I do believe the ducks will make some noise around/at the deadline/draft/fa

I don't see us in the mix for Rantanen. Amazing talent but questionable work ethic does not exactly scream Verbeek.

I would also bet he'll never produce like he did in Colorado playing with MacKinnon.

My theory is he signs back with the Avs in the offseason, making the Canes look like fools.
