@DavidBL Regarding your question about Bjorkstrand’s fit, he would theoretically replace Fabbri in the top 9, and he should play next to either Zegras or Carlsson. I don’t think it’s likely we acquire him, but I think he has a skill set we could use.

Does he have term? I'd rather we aim bigger. :/

Ducks are at .500 , about 9 points out of a playoff spot. Sell or Stay Pat? TDL right around the corner when hockey resumes.
I say, sell Pat. The shine wore off faster than expected. Put him out to auction, or pasture, which ever moves him faster! God Speed, PV.

I feel like we're going to sell Fabbri and Dumo and replace them internally (Colangelo and the rotating D). I don't think Verbeek will add anyone of value until the summer.

Other than an intriguing lower end spect (Ben Meyers) I think I would agree with that. Lundy might even get dealt to someone who believes he can find another level.

Or want Lundy as defensive depth with speed and can PK. Verbeek would probably take anything b/c I think Verbeek will let Lundy walk like Steel and Jones.

Sell the UFA’s, unless we are in a playoff position, which I cannot see.

We don’t have the depth of pieces to be trying to buy.

I would sell on Fabbri and Dumoulin regardless. Fabbri has good effort but he misses so many chances and is not good defending. Dumoulin is blocking players and the difference in play isn't enough to justify keeping him.

I agree for rentals. The Ducks are not ready for those type of players. However, they should be looking for another scorer in the top 6 but this player would be long-term.

Thing is, you either have to believe the blocked players will fill the role, especially next year. Or you have to fill it via FA.

What I wonder is, how confident front office is that we might make it to the playoffs.

I think Pat will be active at the TDL simply because it is easier for him to acquire players via trade than convince them to sign here.
Exactly this, +he isn’t going to risk what happened to him last summer(taking swings with nobody signing with us) . He’s on the hot seat now too, he could also use the “ we’re making a playoff push “ narrative to boot.

Most of the players traded at the TDL tend to be older guys who are going to be UFA's in the summer. Not sure how getting one of the guys at the TDL helps the Ducks unless Verbeek is a buyer b/c he thinks the team can make the playoffs.

That doesn't make sense in the way we need it to. We need high end players but we can only afford to buy them in cash, not assets. We can't afford TDL prices unless the rebuild's done. So we really only have UFA options, and we'll just have to beg or wildly overpay to get them. Maybe the better record this year will help with that.

Maybe I should have clarified - I think he'll be more active in trading before the TDL, not necessarily trying to make typical TDL moves like acquiring a vet to push us over the limit.

I don't think he will go for high end players, I think he will just aim for improvements.

I'm sure he'd like to take a big swing in UFA but I have to imagine he's learned by now that it probably won't work out well for us and I think he knows he has to do something this year.
