Speculation: 2025 Trade/Free Agency Thread (TDL is March 7th)

The upgrades are them just removing a dead hamster and putting in a new one but they still all spin out and crash

It does kind of feel like that. like a friend of mine who mods every new car he gets even if the engine is too small to handle it haha

Even after all these years and upgrades, this site just can't handle the trade deadline and free agency lol
Even after all these years and upgrades, we are still not a playoff team. What I "can't handle" is running in place.

i wouldn't be surprised if those are the only two deals verbeek makes. maybe we'll get an AHL trade, but not expecting anyone else to be moved

100% - we aren't going to be traditional sellers anymore. I'll say it again - i still don't believe he had intentions of moving Dumo until he realized he can get a 2nd

If Pat is done, I'm done with Pat.

Right now we don’t have a lot to give up.

Fabbri is injured. Leason and Lundestrum aren’t really TDL assets for contenders. Strome and Killorn are not going to find buyers.

Gibson has been available for years, but who knows if the return is even worth it. I’m sure Gibson would be gone for 50% retention and we take a prospect and a 3rd, but who wants that.

Now if you’re talking Zegras, McTavish, Terry; that can be a slippery slope if a mistake is made.

What are you looking for him to do?
Its like what I see on the Ducks FB page, they want Verbeek to sign every big name UFA every year and trade all the prospects and young players proven veterans.

They will get there in time, alot of teams on the decline that are now worse than the Ducks: Predators, Penguins, Flyers and next season the Islanders and Bruins will be worse than Anaheim. The Ducks path to the playoffs looks really possible next season. Doughty and Kopitar gotta drop off sooner or later.

I actually think PV is the kind of GM to go all-in (ala TB/DAL/VGK) once we have a perennial playoff team. Right now he's being semi cautious

Get us into the playoffs.
Do you see the absurd additions that teams in our division like Dallas/Colorado/Winnipeg are making? On top of being already great teams? Jets/Stars/Avs/Vegas/Minny/Oilers are basically all locks to make it at this point. The Kings are 10 points ahead of us so I would consider them a lock as well.

We have 4 teams ahead of us fighting for the last spot.

There is not a trade in the world that causes all four of those teams to collapse.

Were just not in a spot to do much more. Sell off rental pieces, but were not contenders so it makes no sense to overpay at the deadline. Weve had some pretty good improvement overall and were at least pushing for a wildcard spot. Still have guys who need to take that next step, couple guys already have. Deadline isnt for us this year, at least not anything major.

Im not sure what player or trade puts us in a wildcard spot. For anyone who thinks Pat hasnt done enough, what were you realistically hoping for?
