I don’t believe the Avs would trade Ritchie for a rental. Maybe for an RFA, or someone under contract, but I doubt very much for a pure rental.

Carlo is under contract though and they could re-sign Marchand.

I think the bigger thing preventing Ritchie from being traded, is if they don't trade for a 2C. That would be risky.

Maybe if they're confident they could land one in the off season, but I don't see how they could be confident in UFA's, or trades, if they couldn't trade for one at the deadline.

Also got him at 50% and Lindgren has a history of playing at least as a Top-4 guy.

Soucy is a bottom pair guy.
I get the cap difference (1M) but it's still quite a difference in acquisition price. I think they could have brought a similar level of play on the bottom pair. Soucy was really good against us when he was on Seattle and has a history playing a top 4 role.

Soucy sucks now (yeah I know Lindgren does too) and has 1 more year at 3.25
I think the Avs look to re-sign Lindgren to a similar price tag, which I think is the justification for the buy price. I don't see term hurting Soucy's value in this situation

Dumoulin retained for a 2nd seems like a no-brainer over the Lindgren deal IMO. My guess is they want to re-sign Lindgren though which make it make more sense

Seems like the Avs just preferred Lindgren for whatever reason. Haven't watched both close enough to tell if that's good or not.

I was hoping for Dumoulin. Avs have been linked to Lindgren for a while though. Seems like another scout favorite.

Soucy for a 3rd and we paid a 2nd+a 4th+ Parssinen for Lindgren?

...It wasn't just Lindgren. Vesey is likely what the 4th was for.

Give me Lindgren for a 2nd over Soucy for a 3rd every single time. Honestly that price for Soucy actually makes me feel quite a bit better about what we paid for Lindgren.

So did the Dumolin deal for that matter.

More likely the Parssinen swap and the 4th was for retention.

I didn't include Vesey because he's a UFA and he'll likely be riding the pine as the extra F. Parssinen would have been too but at least he's a guy we would have retained into next season.

I see you edited your post @Pierce Hawthorne . It's losing Parssinen in that deal that upsets me. We just gave up on him too quick - a huge 24 yr old C that has already shown upside and scoring touch. I don't think he'll be a superstar but could be a long-term 3C maybe even 2C upside if he hits.

Haven't watched LAK a ton, but my memory tells me he took quite a few draws, but seemed to be playing more wing during game play. Could just be my lack of knowledge on team systems though
He's been playing C there yes, and thriving of late. He's shown glimpses before but he's about the breakout in a big way IMO. Been their #1C for the most part recently

This guy and Vlasic tormented me in my EHM sim, 11 million and I couldn’t pay anyone to take them

Oh man, it's been like 15 years or so since I did fantasy hockey, but there was someone with a very similar name as Luke Kunin that I remember always being able to pick up off waivers as a good value pickup.

I thought it was this guy, and I was shocked he was still in the league, but it's not him.

Can't remember his name now. Some kind of journeyman, I think he might have played for Toronto and/or Vancouver but not sure. This is gonna drive me crazy.

Yeah for Carlo I would understand. I would hate it, but it’s at least a player under contract.

Even if they could re-sign Marchand, it’s too big a risk. That guy has ties to Boston where he’d likely go back.

If Ritchie is traded, it needs to be a solution. Unless the Avs find another way of acquiring a 2C, and perhaps there is since were not privy to any conversations, it’s a bad move IMO.

Then again, I’m saying I don’t think they will, they may turnaround any minute here and do the exact opposite. wtf do I know?
