We're enjoying this now until Carolina somehow gets a better return than us then this place will go into full blown meltdown mode.

I feel like it's pretty unlikely we'll be laughing at this after tomorrow.

Only way is if Mikko goes out east and I can't see the Canes trading him to Florida.

Just feels like Dallas to me. Maybe Vegas. Outside chance Edmonton. But if re-signing is the key to the trade now, I can see him signing with Dallas and making our lives hell for many years, including possibly this year.

I didn't look at the numbers but in the past several years most of the trades happened in the week before the deadline. This year almost nothing happened.

Either we'll see a lot of action tomorrow or there just weren't enough sellers this year.

Vegas just doesn't have anything valuable to trade. I can't see him going for a 20271st and a 2nd.
Can't see Carolina wanting just picks. They want at least one good player than can help them now. I don't think Vegas has that.

LA would, but if Mikko tells them he won't sign there, then they aren't trading that much for him.

Dallas, I'm not sure what they have outside of Bourque, and they can't afford to re-sign Mikko with everyone they need to re-sign the next couple years.

Canes aren't dealing him to Florida, IMO.

Mikko also has that NTC that he could have to waive. IDK. Canes really put themselves in a pickle.

Just not enough sellers this year.

I would take O'Reilly back in a heartbeat but I just don't think either side wants that to happen.

That's how I feel too but who knows. ROR can't really deny it without any trade protection. Maybe the Avs are willing now?

Haven't watched him much this year, but it's not a terrible idea for Mitts insurance. ROR could start at 3C and swap with Mitts if he outplays him.

His IQ can make up for some lack of skating, but the few times I've watched him recently, he looked pretty slow. I wonder if he could pull off what Bednar wants?

Would much prefer it with retention at 34 with two more years left, but maybe they move Wood in the deal instead? Seems like they could talk Trotz into it.

Yeah this feels like a good bet.

Only hurdle might be Marchand agreeing to leave Boston. He's only got an 8 team NTC, but seems as though Boston is giving him the courtesy.
I think it could happen too. I don't think Marchand is as cooked as some are making him out to be. But I also fear this is a deal they throw Ritchie away on. Thats going to hurt.

I don’t believe the Avs would trade Ritchie for a rental. Maybe for an RFA, or someone under contract, but I doubt very much for a pure rental.
