We don't need a 3C putting up 40 points when you have Mack and Makar.

And you can't afford a high scoring 3C when you have Mack and Makar.

A defensive, face-off guy is who you want and can afford at 3C, and that's exactly who the Avs have.

Some of ya'll need to be more realistic of the cap.. ya, like give me Mack, Crosby, and McDavid as 3C than I'll finally be happy.
You do when your bottom 6 isn't capable of scoring points though. Didn't we just go through a 20 game stretch where every bottom 6 guy combined scored like 6 points? The bottom 6 can play low event hockey which isn't the worst thing. But the top end can't score every single goal for us.

Who is the Empty Netters Pod?

They’re saying the Aves are aggressively hunting for another center

Too old, too expensive, and too much term remaining.
I agree with all of this but what other options exist once we lose out on Nelson?

He’s better than doing nothing, not sure what his cost would be.

Stick Drouin and Necas with him I think that could help with his lack of skating.

I feel like if Nashville really does that, they're blowing it up. And I don't see them doing that.

Nashville Predators
A brutally disappointing season has left Nashville in an awkward spot at this deadline. This is not a rebuild — at least not yet — so GM Barry Trotz isn’t conducting a fire sale of veterans after already moving out rental Gustav Nyquist. The Predators are listening on center Ryan O’Reilly but need to get a promising young player back in return in order to be compelled to pull the trigger on a reliable veteran with term. Trotz is more than happy to keep him. It sounds like nothing has advanced beyond tire-kicking on the former Conn Smythe Trophy winner as a result.

We definitely have the pieces be it Mitts or Ritchie.

Both Monono and Aj have brought it up.

On the Athletic they said a while ago no one has convinced Nashville to move him.

I'd be down, he's cheap enough to be a high end 3C moving forward.
He's never been the best skater and I wonder if his smarts would still allow him to fill that void if only for this playoff run.

If you're doing that, then I think you have to keep Mitts and hope he regains his form. Bednar could alternate those guys between #2C and #3C depending on who's playing better.

If Mitts regains his form then you have a #2C and #3C for the next 2 years as well.

Still, I wonder if ROR would even agree to come back here or if Avs management would be keen on bringing him back. It's been a long time but sometimes these things can run deep.

What about ROR?

I hate the dude but I like winning more

O'Reilly would be a no brainer for me. Wouldn't be a rental and is having another solid year on the NHL's lowest scoring team.

They keep saying he's committed to Nashville, but they're a dumpster fire, and we're talking about a guy who forced his way out of Buffalo.
