I really don't understand what's going on. CJ and LeBrun reported a few hours ago, that Carolina had not allowed teams to talk to Rantanen or his camp about an extension. Now they have?

My guess is his agent has reached out to some teams that have expressed interest in trading for him, and told them either yes or no of his interest in potentially re-siging there.

- After the 4 Nations, I thought Brock's play dropped a lot for me. It's tough to be on a bottom 6 for loaded teams like that, but he played a lot worse than I thought and I am not sure if he can keep up in Avs system. You'd mind once you realize that the Avs would be playing with 5 D all game cause he can't even make a simple breakout pass, let alone a more difficult one Bednar's system requires, and thus gets benched by Bednar

If they're trading Malinski, they will need another RHD since Beds likes to have matching handedness on his pairings

I hope they get Carlo. Stylistically a great fit next to Girard, good at puck retrievals and zone entry denials, and has a good contract for another 2 seasons.
