I'm not sure Carle would prioritize coaching in the NHL, but I think he'd like to coach at Worlds/the Olympics. And while I think there's justification for selecting him without NHL experience, I think they will want the coach to be an NHL coach.

Agree. I couldn't care less if our senior team coach is in the NHL. But USAH will. Still, Carle should have been an assistant for the Four Nations. I'd be thrilled if they gave him the World Championships role this summer.

Anyone know if Gaudreau's dad made it to the tournament?

Like somebody already said, Carle will go to nhl soon. Cuz that’s where the best hockey is.
Could it be soon? Sure but I think a team would have to blow the doors off him in order to go. He was on Spittin Chiclets this offseason and they asked him about going to the NHL. He basically said he wasn't interested right now, he has a 1 year old and 3 year old, he likes the stability and the program they've built, etc. He was pretty frank in saying it'd have to be the absolute perfect opportunity and a ton of money. He talked about how short the leash is for NHL coaches so that's a big thing to weigh as well. He did say he'd be willing to hear some teams out just to go through the interview process

That said, if an original 6 team came knocking with a good young core he could build around, willing to offer some big dough, I could see him making the jump. The other wild card in my mind is Utah. I could see Ryan Smith being all about a guy like Carle, be willing to break the bank to get him and Carle getting along with him

Love seeing the NHL guys there supporting the team
USA hockey is unreal. Only getting bigger and better.

He’s still so young and he’s doing big things for Denver and obviously USA. I could see him giving himself a few more years unless an offer he can’t refuse comes his way

We've never had a coach that had such high expectations. It's not lip service with Carle. He's not happy just to be in the mix.

"We're really proud of the fact that we're able to win back to back and be the first team to do that in USA Hockey history, but I think for us it's keeping on this path and making sure that we continue to raise the bar and have that standard," United States coach David Carle said.

Finally back to back. It was about time. Personally, I see no reason why Carle should not return to the WJC. It could be that he takes a year or two off and then comes back. If he grabs the NHL opportunity, then of course it's a different matter.

Many play down our chances at home next year, but I think we have a strong base and a lot of players who can rise to a whole new level by the time of the tournament.

Well congrats, beating the best goalie in the tournament(by far) wasn't easy. We shut you down next year, in your home turf :thumbu:
In your failed attempt to lecture us on your 40 years of watching hockey. I wish you luck next year in jumping and trolling on an opposing countries roster talk .

You may go now after being beaten by the better team, more knowledgeable hockey minds and Augustine.

Incredible. It's easy to he impressed by his tactical coaching and player usage, but what really stands out is his bench demeanor. Doesn't get too high or too low, and you rarely see him getting emotional, which is a huge asset when coaching kids at this level, where emotional swings are a significant factor.

Prior to gold medal game, a little psychological game is always in order and by looks of it, i sure got under your skin. Only what i lectured was that Rimpinen was the best goalie in the tournament. And i was correct. Cheers and congrats, USA was better team.

Rimpinen lost in the Gold Medal. Augustine was the winning Gold Medal game goalie. You would have been on here giving more lame lectures had Finland won.

You lose!
