I think he does at some point but I think he's going to rightfully be picky. No reason for him to just take a job because it's an NHL job. He's going to be a top candidate for every opening for awhile.

An actual head coach that knows how to get buy in and what buttons to push to get the most from these kids. Coaching and goaltending typically let's us down. Yep. Someone said it earlier but it's no surprise Carle got the team to turn around that performance on a dime.

This is perfect time to dip out with all the new rules. CHL guys, unlimited transfers, NIL, 5 years of eligibility.

And move on to the NHL where he'll win far less, have far less input on his own roster and could see his coaching success derailed by any number of reasons entirely outside of his control...?

The money wont make the decision for him. He may or may not want the challenge at the highest level. I am certain that if he does leave, it will be a VERY hard choice for him to make.

There was NO doubt Jim Montgomery was going to chase that opportunity eventually. I think there is a very real chance Carle's career goals involve chasing Jeff Jackson or Jerry York, and not the NHL, but we shall see...

If he just wants something easy, he can be in charge and the head coach of "Stacked AAA team" that gobbles up all the best local kids, boasts a dominant win record every year and brags about how many kids they send to Junior Hockey every year.

NHL is the highest level of the sport. That's where legends in coaching and management are built. No doubt anyone that chooses to never make that jump is always going to have that lingering wonder about how it may have gone.

That was such a wild game.

We came out so flat. We couldn't do anything right outside of the top line and Hutson and Buium to start the game. Then we started really pushing the pace and playing with nothing to lose and this Finland team simply could not keep up.

Once we got to our game, we were the much better team and it seemed inevitable that we would be the first team to 4 goals.

Other than Augustine, who was pretty weak in this game (2nd goal was bad and 3rd very savable), all our top players stepped up in this game and were true difference makers. Exactly what we thought was the recipe to win. We had the best top players in the tournament. We didn't have that much depth. Our defense outside of a few players sucked and the forwards weren't the most skilled outside of the top line and the isolated player here or there, but the top guys really carried us in this game.

Been waiting for Stiga to make a big impact all tournament. It has felt like he's underachieved a little, but that was a huge moment.

This team was flawed, but so was every other team. We executed the best of any team in this tournament. Carle probably will not be back, but he's been masterful for two years and has an open invitation if he wants at it again. Probably the actual best hockey coach of any of the coaches in this tournament.

Really big moment for us to finally win back to back. For as big of a hockey nation as we are, it was about time. Now onto winning 3 in a row in Minnesota!

I think the mistake you make is assuming Carle will want what 'everyone' wants. He's a different kind of guy, and he's not into coaching for his own glory, accomplishment or to chase legendary status. He's a developer. He's a 'part of something bigger than himself' type.

I believe his goal from the minute his career ended was to coach at DU. And to coach at DU for a long time. Has that changed with success? I don't know. Pegging the NHL as a possibility for David Carle makes a lot of sense. Pegging the NHL as a certainty ignores a lot of what makes David Carle who he is and exactly what makes him so successful at this level...
