Carle seems like a really good coach tbh from a distance anyways. Pushes a lot of the right buttons. Probably has an NHL future.

I just hope he's picky about the NHL job he takes. We haven't had a young coach like him in a loooong time.

That was not a good performance, but I guess the win is what matters.
As we expected, the team depth sucks. For all the credit people give Carle, he picked a lot of these players who can't keep up with a team like Canada (and couldn't even play well against Finland, let alone Latvia and Germany).
I think we won this game because Augustine and Buium finally stepped up and played better. Don't know why anyone was doubting them too much. Yeah, they needed to play better, but it was a few games. You aren't winning with other guys in their place. Had to give them time to find their games.
Hutson was amazing too. The rest of our defensemen get caved. The game moves too fast for them and they can't move the puck. Because of that, it hurts our ability to generate anything at even strength. I don't blame the forwards that much. They simply aren't getting the puck enough. Our ability to exit the zone needs to get a whole lot better. Not sure we can win another game like that.
The PP has an easy fix. Take Burnevik off of the PP. He's not good. There was never any sense in putting arguably your worst forward on your first PP. He ruined plenty of chances tonight because he either can't finish chances or doesn't have the puck skills and processing speed that these other players on that unit have.

So much negativity. We beat a really good team. Thought Hensler and Kleber were both good in limited minutes. Minnetian was solid as well.
Buium continues to embrace a new role and did it very well. Story of the game for me was our questionable blueline holding it down in a big game.
I think the narrative that Canada dominated us 5v5 is cute. They are sore losers and always have been. Soon as game was over: “not a real tournament without Russia” or “Sweden will crush both these teams”. They threw every puck they had on the net for an inflated shot count

Agreed, and the overall team defense seemed to be on the same page. It's tough to play against a fast strong, forechecking team.
Thought Perrault was disappointing, for a guy that was billed as a finisher. Missed nets, and overall a lot of opportunities.
yeah I’ve been underwhelmed by GP as well. He’s so weak on pucks. Not sure how he is going to be effective in the NHL if he doesn’t get significantly stronger and more aggressive
Bonney was all over it. So many missed nets. We often cleared the puck out of our offensive zone by missing wide. Ironically, I thought we did well getting position at the net, which could’ve led to rebounds. But rebounds were non existent.
All in all, we were much tighter and I thought played really well. For all their shots, there weren’t lots of great opportunities for them. D was good. Backchecking was good. Defensively we were efficient.

The kid turned 18 four months ago and his PPG at BU and the WJC are double the output of the other 2 players. Way more intensity, speed and confidence as well.
Who knows where he goes from here but aside from the BU/Isles connection, I don’t see a comparison.
In a season with little positivity for an Isles fan, I’m excited about him.

They all are more one dimensional goal scorers. Liabilities on the ice in many instances. Comparing all three at the same age they are in the same mold. Some played with more jam than others but Eiserman is the 13th forward right now on this team for a reason. If he doesn't score goals what's his use? Same applied to Bellows and Wall E, though Bellows found other ways to contribute during his USNDP and WJC days.
Hoping the best for Eiserman and he rounds his game out more. Hopefully Eiserman's skating stays strong, that might help him stick longer than the others have.

Not confirmed but sounds like they were taking to long on the line change and had already been warned earlier in the game about it.
Eiserman may or may not become a great professional. However, criticizing him has become more of a trend than anything else, which is getting quite tiresome.
That's a mistake that they need to clean up. Very seldom called penalty- you can bet they wouldn't have called it if CAN hadn't just taken one.

I do agree that some players get criticized more than others but criticism is either valid or it is not. He isn't the only player people have felt has been underwhelming here. Connelly takes a lot of heat as well. Both high draft picks that comes with high expectations. The depth here unfortunately not as deep at forward as past few years so these kids are needed to contribute more than they typically would which makes them targets.
I think most of our forwards have been underwhelming overall yet here we are with the top seed and most goals scored by a wide margin in our group. Perrault has been meh. Same with Moore. Leonard all over the place too. Those are the top players here outside Hagens and we have a prime opportunity to get to the gold yet again.
Eiserman and Connelly have bright futures ahead, but there are cautionary tales as well to keep in mind with players of their ilk.

Eiserman may turn out to be a flash in the pan but you’re downplaying his potential and productivity to date. You wrote “He isn’t the only player people have felt has been underwhelming here.”
He’s tied for 6th most points in the WJC and as a freshman is over 1 PPG at BU.
