WJC: 2025 Team USA Roster Talk

Max Plante is back from injury and absolutely deserves consideration. But Shaugabay not there over him doesn't make a ton of sense.

Plante may be on the verge of returning, but hasn’t played since being injured. Making the WJC team for a player who was on the bubble, at best, with one game played all year is hard to believe.

My updated forward lines:

Perrault - Moore - Leonard
Musty - Hagens - Eiserman
Connelly - Nelson - Adams
Burnevik - Terrance - Reeder
Svoboda

Risers:
Terrance- playing great again. He’s back on my team
Musty- Ditto
Reeder- I don’t see much of Denver but he’s playing important minutes for the best team. Good enough for me.
Burnevik - Just keeps scoring every night
Willis - Pretty much going by what I read here

Fallers:
Hendrickson - I want him on the team so bad but he’s been meh
Whitelaw - For a long time I just assumed he was on the team. Needs a bigggg run to get back to where he was
Humphrey and Nehring - Both had good starts but have fallen back

I was originally joking about Joey Willis but man he has to be the most in form US junior player right now and is certainly making a claim...

3 hat-tricks, 13 goals & 18 pts in his last 5 games for Saginaw now!!!

Not sure why this needed to be tweeted...

I was told that Quentin Musty (SJS), before breaking his hand, was not going to be invited.

Like rubbing salt in the wound.

According to Mike Grier from a couple of months ago, it was a goal for Musty to make the WJC team too.
“World Juniors is a goal of his. Wherever he goes, or ends up going back to Sudbury, whatever it may be. He’s basically gonna have a month to try and show USA Hockey that he’s their guy,” Grier noted. “So little bit of pressure on himself.”
I wouldn't be surprised if the NTDP/NCAA point to this trajectory as a cautionary tale for American kids considering the CHL route. Whatever the motivations were for choosing to go to the OHL, it does not seem like it has served him well.

Don’t know how to formulate these forward lines at all. The lack of Smith (he’s playing better now, so that’s what I’m expecting) messes everything up because we lack centers. And I think if you put Hagens with Perreault and Leonard you are creating problems in your middle six. I’d rather hope Moore can not screw up the Leonard/Perreault thing and let Hagens play with his buddy Eiserman that we know he can unlock the best out of. I don’t see how you can possibly put Eiserman and Musty on the same line. Too much tunnel vision and lack of effort off the puck. Connelly is suspended from my team after losing us the WJC18. Defense isn’t as good as the forwards, but I think more straight forward and easier to mix and match. I like our goaltending this year.
Fortescue was a top 4 dman for them last WJC, he isn't going to be bumped down to a healthy scratch defensemen.
