No Gavin McKenna? I think after his U18s and this past season as a 16 year old he is going to be on the team for sure- he will lead the next 2 or 3 teams because of his late birth date.

Berkley Catton just had 115 pts as a draft year player. Gotta think he’s on the team somewhere as well even if it means a guy like callum Ritchie moves down a line. Catton may lead the whole CHL in points this year.

Also just a minor change but I don’t think Andrew Cristall would be on the team for 4th line minutes. He would be on the team in a scoring role inside the top 6. Maybe swap him and nadeau?

Very solid team

Mike Misa could break out. JMO but could have been battling injuries. Playing in the best development league at 15 against 20 year olds will show this year how much he has matured

Biased*** Opinion

Guys that should be in consideration for Team Canada from the OHL.

Nick Lardis (F), Brantford Bulldogs -- One of the most dangerous scorers in the OHL. Scored at a GPG pace after a slow start, injured shortened season.

Matthew Andonovski (D), Kitchener Rangers -- One of the best shutdown, stay-at-home defenseman in the OHL. Has a coming out party this past year.

I would have a hard time cheering for Team Canada with Parekh playing. His antics would be on display for the world to see.

I'm biased as well but I am pretty sure Cole Beaudoin (F), Barrie Colts is a shoe in and I will be disappointed if they don't take him. He is a workhorse that can be one of the best checkers and penalty killers in the tournament.

Beau Akey (D), Barrie Colts should also be in consideration depending on how his training has been going following surgery. I expect him to be one of the top two way, puck moving D in the OHL this season.

I agree Catton will be there as well, he captained the U18's. Also agree that McKenna/Misa both deserve a shot

Looks like the team will be strong, I hope they compete for a medal this year.

I think one thing people are forgetting when it comes to players that should be on the team, because the names I've noticed being brought up as players that should be in consideration is that in the past few years, Team Canada doesn't tend to take a ton of 18 years olds.

From the last 4 tournaments (2022 is a little bit wonky because of the COVID issues/restart) and the 18 y/o OHLers -

2024 - 6 05s and an 06 (Cowan, Rehkopf, Bonk)
2023 - 5 04s and an 05 (Beck, Wright)
2022 - 10 03s and an 05 (McTavish, Del Mastro)
2021 - 5 02s (Byfield, Drysdale, Perfetti)

Obviously every year is different but I only expect 5-6 06s this year, and 2-3 of them to be OHLers - if I had to guess they'll look at George, Dickinson and Luchanko/Sennecke depending on the make-up of the roster. Parekh has a shot too but it'll depend how they want to play.

Somewhat surprised Misa wasn't on the list for U18 invites - but regardless I think McKenna is the better player and will probably make the team.

Good point for sure and noted. I think with 06 I still like Beaudoin, he can be a great bottom six role player more so than Luchanko/Sennecke IMO. George is also a lock in my opinion.

Looking at the 2005's who will be available...there are quite a few great ones. Going to be some tough cuts.

He was invited but is not playing. He played through some injuries during the year and is taking the offseason to get healthy before his draft year.

Who in particular?
I mean choosing Pinelli over guys like Sennecke and Greentree is one of the most laughable Hockey Canada politic driven travesty's I have seen. (Coach's choice)
I know he will probably be cut anyway but how do you make that decision?
Even Tanner Howe over them is a pretty hilarious decision.
