It’s pathetic that people are already hitting the panic button, but you gotta give credit to Latvia for keeping the game close. Better to face adversity early than later on.

I think it has more to do with people pointing out in advance what they saw as specific flaws and those flaws being exposed on the ice.

It goes beyond losing the game. Canada loses a lot of games at this tournament. Running the table is rare.

It’s more about how they lost and how it lines up with expectations.

Pretty much every criticism of the roster has been demonstrated at this point. Canada clearly needs another defenceman with some offensive talent and the team does not need six grinders. At least goaltending has been good. Molendyk and Ritchie have been good, and Cowan has too. McKenna is threatening. Defensive structure is fine. Other than that the team has a blatantly terrible power play and has too many lines that are not threatening. Rehkopf should not be in the press box, Wood should have made the team, and some of Sennecke/Misa/Cristall should be there. I'll guess that Rehkopf will get a shot next game.... but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
The Schaefer injury unfortunately makes Rehkopf even less of an option. Those 3 unrostered spots that are available until NYE (?) may have one more than likely be taken up by another defender.

Compound problem when your most natural goal scorer (PP for sure) can no longer be available due to a lack of defensemen... especially when the team is obviously struggling to score goals. Not that it matters, DC would have Rehkopf on the PK as a LD on his non natural side, likely.

Why is Bonk on the powerplay over Dickinson?

Everyone keeps saying we need more players like the guys on the first 2 lines but...

None of those guys scored in O.T., nor did they score in the shootout.

Do you really think MORE of that would help?

**********************************************************

I've been down this road too many times to be worried.

The perfect example (as always) is 2002. Canada lost to Sweden, barely got by Germany and tied Czechoslovakia and Hasek.

Canadians were having a FIT. People said Hockey Canada sucks. They said the players suck. Pat Quinn can't coach. Gretzky doesn't know what he's doing. Etc, etc, etc.

It happens over and over and over and all the geniuses on HF ALWAYS knew / know better. It's gotten so old but no one ever learns / stops.

DC old school (dumb) mentality of vets getting preferential treatment and younger guys paying their dues. Earlier in the game I looked up the box score of London vs the 67s in Ottawa when London blew them out... Dickinson 5 pts with 3 on pp, Bonk 2 wis one on pp. Dummies are too dumb to learn.

I feel like the D man with 46 points in 26 games is more offensively talented than the one with 21 in 24 games.

That was a best on best with grown ups. It’s been proven when Canada picks the wrong roster and with the wrong coach, expect a disaster. Exhibit A, todays game,

Re : "That was a best on best with grown ups."

And?

If Canada wins, the same clowns who are having a fit, tonight, will be crowing about Canadian hockey - just like they did in 2002 and in 2010 and every time Canada hits a stumbling blocks but wins.

I remember in 2010, after the U.S. beat us in regulation, the same old, same old - Canada stinks, Hockey Canada sucks, etc. Of course, a week later, everyone knew the team was great.

Again, it gets sooooooo old.

I’m frequently wrong, both in and out of my chair. (It’s a nice Eames)

Not going to stop me from sharing my occasionally right opinion.

Then there was 1972 - the same old, same old. Hockey Canada sucks. They took the wrong players. Coaching sucks.

Can't Canadian hockey fans ever have confidence in their team and stand by them thru thick and thin? Ever?

It has been said many times.... This country LOVES to eat its own.

I understand being upset you didn’t make it but you still gotta support your country. Not a good look here from Zane and Misa or for Team Canada for that matter.

Maybe that's why they were NOT taken.

Are you the exception or the example?
I'm standing by the team and not pretending I know better than the people at Hockey Canada so I like to think I'm the exception.
