They’ve picked a relatively fast team and he is slow is my guess. I left him off my mock too, but I’m surprised it actually happens. Joins the infamous group including Bigras, Ceulemans, Kidney
It would be Lambos not Ceulemans. Ratzlaf too along with maybe Leland Irving off the top of my head. Reggie Savage way back as well, one or two others I think.

Wood showed enough to me to make the team. He is not the most glaring cut but it does stick out. We will see how the team plays I guess.

Will be interesting to see the line combinations and d pairings when the final team has its first practice. Will tell us a lot about how Cameron plans on using some of the more….umm..interesting selections like Howe and Pinelli. I’d guess Howe will be a puck retrieval role in the top-6, Pinelli as a spare forward.

Very strong team overall.

This team had so many strong picks available for the wings which makes the Howe selection all the more puzzling to me. I think Pinelli made the team simply because he plays center.

It's honestly fascinating to see all the negativity on here about this team. This is one of our most stacked rosters that I can remember, and despite a few great players that didn't make the cut, there are guys with serious talent on every line. This team shouldn't struggle to score at all.

Team will struggle to score and lose to a country they have no business losing to. Lessons will not be learned.
I actually think the team is pretty strong it's just that it could be even better. However one injury or perhaps a line that doesn't have chemistry and suddenly not having Cristall or Sennecke could cost them.

Given how large a lead cristall has in points/game over all other CHL players, and that some other top candidates will be going to the tournament, and thus missing CHL games, it would be funny if cristall ends up getting CHL player of the year.

Last year's Firkus. That's not something new

They cut Beckett Sennecke and Zayne Parekh. That’s insane and dumb
Parekh is a turnovers machine and Sennecke is still pretty raw physically. Both will be on the team next year, but I think TC took the right decisions for this year edition.

I had Parekh as a mid 1st round pick last year and Sennecke around 10th OV, both have weaknesses to work on.

Eh, firkus won scoring race by 3 points and didn't win the point/game race. That went to savoie. Cristall is currently almost half a point/game ahead of mckenna in pts/game. Like if those paces keep up and mckenna misses games due to the world Jr's it won't be close. Firkus just won whl scoring, while cristall is destroying the league.

This is f***ing insane  how do you go from the galaxy-brain approach that f***ed us last year to this many self-inflicted injuries?

Even without counting Bedard, Benson and Celebrini, the team of eligible-but-not-selected has a damn good chance of beating the actual selected team in a series.

McKenna-Ritchie-Nadeau
Cowan-Catton-Martone
Rehkopf-Luchanko-Yager
Howe-Beaudoin-Cataford
Gauthier/Pinelli

Dickinson-Bonk
Molendyk-Gibson
Schaefer-Akey
Price/Mynio

Iginla-Hage-Wood
Barkey-Heidt-Greentree
Parascak-Finnie-Lardis

I mean I am not a fan of certain choices....but doesn't that just more so speak to the depth this year? Like I feel like change a few names out and we are still having this "B team would be amazing" conversation.

Help me understand...

According to Sports Interaction, we are barely favourites :

But on these sites, we are large favourites - despite what the Dec 9th title says...

On Bet 99 we are slight underdogs...

************************************************************

It seems the U.S. were the initial favourites but the early money is on Canada and shifted the odds. It will be interesting to see what happens once the big(?) money starts flowing in.

Yes we see it pretty much every year, those extra years help, and most of those USports players would have been very good junior players before. I remember a time or two when a USports player was someone who had actually gone to Canada's camp a few years earlier. Canada did crack them early in the third but it is also good that the Canadian defence looked solid throughout.

As always it will be interesting to see how much these games matter to the coaches. Rehkopf was on the team last year, Sennecke was good in the summer camp, both have scored a ton in the OHL so far, and then they were the best forwards today. They should be on the team unless the management/coaches just are set on not having them.
Sasha Mutala was on the USports team and he was on Canada’s Hlinka team for the 01’s. Some other damn good CHL guys on that team, and they were mainly all 01’s.
