No player should ever be unavailable, save for legit star players, but it's tough to find a trade that would work between LA and Montreal for Byfield. I don't think Montreal would move Suzuki, Caufield or Demidov, and there really isn't much else. Slaf and Byfield are probably similar value players, but the last thing the Kings need is a left-shot winger. The Kings could obviously use a player like Hutson too, but the Kings issues at C just make it to tough to trade QB unless it's in a lateral move for another U-25 C.

The Kings would be completely depleted at C going forward, you'd have 38 year old Kopitar, 32 year old Danault and probably Alex Turcotte as your centers.

Kings acquire.......... Brad Marchand (25% retained) from the Boston Bruins. I imagine Moore would be sent the other way to make the cap work. Would probably need to add a 1st and maybe a prospect or another pick. People have floated the idea of the Bruins trading Marchand - it seems unthinkable but they're currently sitting outside of a playoff spot. Could they potentially sell on Marchand to avoid losing him for nothing in the offseason?? Most likely not but it's a fun idea lol.

And then you acquire Jake Evans in another deal.

Marchand - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Byfield - Laferriere
Turcotte - Danault - Foegele
Jeannot - Evans - Lewis/Thomas

Proven scoring winger, playoff performer, and leader who certainly plays with an edge and knows how to get under opponents skin.

The Lucic trade was bad enough, and sequels are usually always worse than the originals. 37 year old Marchand is not putting this team over the top, the only thing that could have saved this team was drafting a franchise 1C between 2017-2021 (they passed on multiple ones) or trading for a franchise 1C (Blake passed and a div rival got him)

But it would be hilarious when the pick ends up being a perennial 35 goal guy and the legacy of destruction Blake brought on the Kings extends well into the 2030's.

I didn't mention it in my previous posts, but one of the other points that came from Luc's season ticket lunch is he said that they want Fagemo to play with more grit and be more like Turcotte.

I don't think he's gonna a look anytime soon, if ever.

I don't think it matters in the case of Fagemo, because he probably is a AAAA player. But they would have been telling the same thing to Stutzle, Caufield, Necas etc. had they drafted those guys.

They want system players above all else. And then they wonder why they can't score and the PP is a disaster.

Couple things:

• I agree Boeser would be a solid get
• Assuming Boeser will sign in the $7-8m range is very risky- there may be another team (or multiple teams) out there that offers more
• Canucks probably laugh and hang up the phone if the offer is Turcotte and a 2026 1st - think you'd need to add quite a bit more
• Kings aren't trading Jeannot - they become way too soft if they move Jeannot and they already invested too many assets to acquire him

The two points in bold were essentially the main focus of my original post - I think Boeser's value is seriously inflated both in terms of trade and contract extension. Canucks are going to want a haul for him if they decide to make him available. And Boeser is going to want a huge contract give he's a 27 year old sniper with a 40 goal season and multiple 25+ goal seasons under his belt.

Toffoli signed for 4 years, $6m with the Sharks as a 32 year old. With the cap going up, I don't think it's crazy to think Boeser would be asking for over $8m with term.

TLDR: probably too expensive but I do love the idea of adding a sniper of his caliber.

Saw B. Schenn brought up earlier. 33 years old. Signed for about 3 more seasons. Now I'm afraid an older vet signed too long is right in Blake's wheelhouse.

Hard to see King's go after an expensive rental. An expensive player with term would make more sense or a cheap 3rd liner.

Kempe has a raise coming up. Kempe & Fiala is going to be lot of salary on the wing. Center might be a better place to spend cap with ageing Kopi.

BLuc have traded away so many futures that a quick turnaround will be impossible once they’re gone. Unlike many here, I don’t think either will be fired until 2027 at the earliest, when Kopi and Drew are gone.

If we’re looking at a few years before even starting a rebuild then I am fully in favor of just selling out and making dumb trades for big names. The next regime will need to go scorched earth anyway so let BLuc have their fun. Whatever. At least Marchand or Boeser in a Kings jersey for 20 games would be a fun visual and might make the Oilers actually break a sweat this time.
