Rickard Rakell, Alex Tuch, or Brock Boeser

Any other right shot scoring winger would be super underwhelming and you might as well just sit on your hands at the deadline and hold on to assets if that's your plan.

Of the three above, Rakell seems the most realistic to add. I know some people view Rakell as an underwhelming option but he would instantly lead the Kings in points and he would be tied with Kempe in goals if he was added today.

He's a 30 goal scorer this year and he's a guy who the Kings could count on to slot into their top 6 and be an upgrade.

Rakell - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Byfield - Laferriere

It might seem underwhelming and I'm sure many will claim that adding Rakell doesn't make the Kings contenders anyways so what's the point - But I see a guy like Rakell as being a sneaky great addition. He's EXACTLY what the Kings need - a right shot scoring winger who can help boost production in the top 6 and score on the powerplay.

He's only 31 and and signed to a very reasonable (especially with the cap going up) $5m for the next 3 seasons after this one. Kings would be able to pencil him in for ~20+ goals and ~50 points each year barring an unexpected regression. At $5m it's also not the end of the world if he starts to slot down on your 2nd or 3rd line over the next couple years - Could also be a trade asset in future seasons.

I'd definitely rather add Tuch or Boeser but Rakell could be a decent option as well.

Alex Tuch and Tyler Bertuzzi both fit that bill. Kings will have to get creative to fit either player under the cap. Neither will come cheap. Turcotte could be a chip.
Tuch is great. He's a +15 while playing on the Sabres. No one else on the team is even close. He's also a right shot. But Buffalo is not interested in moving him.

Bertuzzi is very overrated IMO. I don't want to be stuck with that contract.

Tuch would be my dream addition.

Reactions: Schrute farms
He’s stinking the place out based on the MTL boards.
Yea its a great buy low situation and he was really good for a part of the year. Probably the best shooter available and if they would retain the Kings may be able to fit him. Stick him with Kopitar and Kempe and put Turcotte as the 4c with Jeannot and Lewis. If that doesnt work you could give him the Kaliyev treatment and hide Laine on the 4th line but play him on pp1. Hes a weapon and it happens to be the weapon the Kings are missing. If it works he could possibly be the missing puzzle piece. If it doesnt work youre saddled with a 4.5 million dollar Kaliyev for another year after this one.

Why would we trade for anything at all?
There is no player on this planet that makes the Kings a contender.

It just extends the time and pain of being a black hole team if we aquire another half descend winger

Tyler Toffoli is a right shot. Just sayin..
Could have had in summer for just money, sad thing is pretty everyone knew they needed a right shot and if they didn't get one during the summer, they'd be looking for at deadline.

Because Management is in denial

Yes. They decided to allocate the cap space to depth instead (Foegle, Edmundson, Jeannot). Which makes sense.

But Toffoli still fits what they need right now, and from the sound of it he wanted to be in LA. A bit old though.
