WC: 2025 Switzerland

Wouldn't overestimate this one, a lot of puck luck.

Doesn't make cuts on Offense easier, wouldn't mind any of the forwards being part of the team.

We can expect the Hofmann - Jäger - Bertschy line next Friday. Also probably Ghetto - Malgin - X. And hopefully a full NHL-line with Meier - Hischier - Fiala. Maybe leaves a spot for 4 forwards. Schmid played very well, a lot of speed, very fast. Senteler is experienced, versatile. Knak has to be there, as Moy has in my opinion. He played too well and also has gotten a complete player on both sides of the rink. I'm not completly sold on Riat. He has limits and he has been tried quite a few times in an offensive line and it didn't work out. And also I'm not sold on Ambühl. He may be important for the team. I don't think he's better than Ritzmann/Baechler/Rohrbach who might get cut.

On Defence Egli again didn't have the best game. And I don't see anything that Jung has to offer which Karrer has not. Karrer is as physical and a lot smarter.

Aeschlimann played better after the first two goals. But I guess we'll see Charlin/Genoni in the first two games.

Yeah, the Jäger line worked pretty well, and Malgin and Andrighetto should play together, but it's not obvious who their right linemate is. I think they would work better with someone who can crash the net and finish plays.

Senteler is the logical choice as 4th line centre, he's better than Walser, and Knak should be there too. Schmid gets a lot of PK time. I can't see any spot for Rohrbach, he's the most likely cut I think, Baechler has been fine, Ritzmann much less noticeable in the EHT, and Ambühl was fine in the 1st game against Latvia and against Sweden.

Moy plays well but I am not sure there will be a spot for him (assuming there will be a full NHL line). Maybe as 13th forward? You could make a case for him playing mostly on the PP, but his preferred spot would be taken by Fiala and Malgin.

The Jäger line is not dressed today. Allows all others to showcase.

Ghetto - Malgin - Riat
Schmid - Beachler - Rohrbach
Knak- Senteler - Moy
Ritzmann - Walser - Ambühl

D-pairin untouched, Charlin to start.

Knak - Senteler - Moy could be an excellent 4th line.

Pretty good 4 weeks overall, many players could show they are serious options to play at the WC, either now or in the future. The only downsides were the PP, which has usually been a strength under Fischer, and not being able to keep the opponent under 2 goals in a single game. Goaltending is questionable behind Genoni.

I guess Moy and Knak will make the team after the game they just had. Moy's problem has always been that he was unable to produce offensively against top quality opposition, but he managed to create a lot during the three EHT games.

After the first period I thought Schmid was the only player who was making a good case for himself from the Baechler and Walser lines, but then Walser and Rohrbach made key plays on both 2nd period goals, Ambühl had some good plays around the net too, and Baechler had some strong PK. Tough choices to make for Fischer.

I guess Ritzmann is the easiest cut, then I am not sure. Senteler wasn't as good as his linemates, would Fischer take them with Walser or Baechler at centre? Then there is a significant chance that we just watched Ambühl's last game. If all 3 NHL forwards come, I'd keep the Malgin, Jäger and Senteler lines as they are with Schmid and one of Baechler or Ambühl.

On defense, assuming Moser and Siegenthaler come, two cuts are needed. Kukan, Glauser and Marti should be locks, then it depends if you want a third offensive player behind Moser and Kukan. Egli was a bit in trouble during the EHT, but you could take him and give him minimal ice time, just in case Moser or Kukan gets injured. I thought Jung had a pretty good game today, but he completely lost his guy on the 2nd Czech goal. Karrer wasn't very noticeable, which is what you expect from a player like him, Berni did pretty well too, and Fora was pretty much the weakest of the bunch but we've been saying that for 4 years now. I'd go with Egli, Berni and Karrer, but I expect Fora, Berni and Karrer to make it.

Great analysis. Fora will be on the roster no matter what, but like you in don‘t know what Fischer sees in him. He‘s just not good enough on the top international stage, he is pretty good in league play tho.

Assuming Fischer goes 8+14 (which makes sense) and we have 5 additions from NA, we need 6 cuts, two on D and 4 on F.

On Defence Jung is clear to me. He's the worst D-men of the 8 available in every aspect of the game. Then, if Siegenthaler is really coming, it's getting difficult. Berni and Karrer played very well together in all games. Fora won't get cut, whatever he does. Egli has an offensive upside and played today his best games, but he also is a defensive liability, especially if the opponent gets better. He made some progress, but is it good enough?

On offense it gets really tricky. In my opinion we have have 4 lines with Ghetto - Malgin - Riat, Hofmann - Jäger - Bertschy, NHL-line and Knak - Senteler - Moy. The only question mark there is Riat in my opinion.

Then we'd just have a 13th forward which should be Schmid. After that Baechler is my choice for #14, so no spot for Ambühl. Ritzmann, Walser, Rohrbach and Ambühl would be cut.

Weibel said today during the break that they will choose younger player over older ones if they are at the same level. Which hints to Walser but also could hint to Ambühl.

By the way, Charlin played very good until this last missed pass. Better happens now than during WC but Genoni/Charlin is the obvious choice for the starting weekend (Only decision to make who plays the Czechs and who plays Denmark).
