WC: 2025 Switzerland

Fischer won't be sad that the final is over.

Andrighetto, Malgin, Kukan and Marti.
Jäger, Rochette, Riat and Glauser.

Are the obvious ones. Not much more on Defense, Zürich has some interesting young(er) forwards, Baechler, Sigrist, Zehnder.

Latvia obviously a much better opponent. Jung is horrible, Ramel played again very well, Knak should get a spot, no question about that. He's a fighter and he's getting better offensivly each year. I liked the Berni/Karrer-pairing. Berni played probably one of his best games. And Charlin probably secured his spot, really good game by him.
Dionicio again played a very mature game, one time in the first period he was caught a little bit but otherwise I really like his game.

Yeah, that was much better than last week. Not much to complain about offensively, except that they should have scored more goals, although the two posts are a mitigating factor. I still really like the Bader line, Bader himself is a top defensive player and Fazzini shows his recent progress. Hofmann was a different player compared to last week, Knak should make the team if he keeps playing like this, Ambühl is still as motivated as if it was his first hockey game and Moy showed he can create a scoring chance at any time.

Defensively it wasn't as good, too many turnovers that lead to periods of sustained pressure. They need to handle forechecking better. Dionicio keeps making a good case for himself, and Egli brought a lot offensively, although he didn't look good on the first goal.

Charlin will also want that first goal back, but he probably played his best national team game.

First half of the game was terrible, second half merely bad (or the opposite if you're Latvian. I don't think either coach will be happy with this one). Tough to comment on this one as no one really stood out.

I guess Glauser, Kukan and Marti will upgrade the defense, plus Loeffel who is pretty much an addition (I assume he's only lightly injured given that there was no communication about him), that means we're looking at 3-4 cuts. Chanton and Wüthrich are likely, not sure who else. I hope Dionicio makes it, then Berni probably showed enough. That leaves Egli, Jung, Fora and Karrer. We all know Fischer likes Fora, plus Egli should stay on the team unless Moser joins. That leaves Karrer and Jung out.

Difficult to make any prediction at forward. Malgin, Andrighetto, Jäger, Riat and Rochette should join, but I don't see any obvious name to cut. And who do you play with Malgin and Andrighetto? I guess Ambühl has the right playing style, but do you really want to play a 41 year old with your best attacking duo?

Yeah, not a good game, but good to see that they found a way into the game.

Lehmann probably played the best game of his national team career. I still like very much what Ritzmann has to offer. His size, his long stick, but he also has an offensive upside. Bader was mediocre, as was Ambühl, who didn't have a good game. Knak was again the best forward, Moy played well too but his linemates were not up to the challenge. Fazzini played well on Thursday, but really bad yesterday. When all the finalists are joining I can see him getting cut because his role will be occupied by those players (Riat, Malgin).

Chanton didn't play in the last period I think, so either he's injured or he's benched, both leading to a cut. Wüthrich has stepped up and I cannot really say he played bad, but yeah, he should be an additional cut.
I thought Karrer and Berni played an excellent game defensively and got rarley into troubles, in comparison to all the other. So I wouldn't cut both. Dionicio had one or two not very good passes in the own zone, but overall he's just too skilled and solid to get cut.
Jung is horrible and shouldn't be there at that level. But I already said that last year. Fora is Fora, don't know where the love from Fischer comes. He makes so many mistakes. That penalty in 4vs5.
But yeah, we know Fischer too good to know that he'll cut one other player in favor of Fora and maybe even Jung.

Moy could be a partner for Andrighetto and Malgin, or Hofmann. I think Andrighetto and Hofmann played together before.

The Devils won their first game in OT. Siegenthaler played 27 minutes. That's the limited role they wanted to put him into. :)

Glauser, Kukan, Marti, Jäger, Riat, Malgin, Andrighetto and Bächler added. Rochette injured.

Dionicio the only cut on defense, which is disappointing. Bader, Fazzini, Ramel, Lehmann and Marchon out at forward.

I really liked the Fazzini - Bader - Ramel line, but unfortunately for them there are simply better option. Marchon is a limited player with a tendency to take penalties, and Lehmann had disappointing games, can't really complain about these cuts, although I'd have taken Bader over Walser and Fazzini or Ramel over Rohrbach.

Cutting dionicio and keeping wüthrich is criminal in my opinion. It‘s not like wüthrich has a chance at the team and Dionicio has just way more potential.

We don‘t have the full picture but if Dionicio isn‘t injured or something I don‘t get that either.

While the 3 Devils players should be free all other series with relevance are pretty open

Edit: I like the Baechler call up, btw. He played very well

I haven‘t watched the 3rd period of the the last latvia game but until then he looked alright. I don‘t think he would‘ve or maybe should‘ve made the team but i‘d give him atlesst the betano games to get a taste of the level against teams like sweden with the NHL players they bring to these games. Nothing new but Dionicio‘s skating is probably not good enough atm to be on the WC, tough he improved a lot in that category.
Yes Baechler deserves this i agree. But i don‘t know if he‘ll make the final roster, if he continues like this he should play in a lot of WCs in the future IMO.

I wouldn‘t say his skating is much worse than others. He made some progress there. And his vision and his technical skills are defintly superior to those of others.
Yes completely agree. His skating is definitely not his main strength tough.
