2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

Meh, Flekken is not that good. A lot of goals he gives up that you scratch your head on, also ETH is already bringing in guys from SEG is too on the nose and probably PTSD for the Man U fans in here lol
I thought he was bad the first year, but very good this one. Whoscored.com has him as gk of the season in the PL so at least according to one set of statistics he was lights out. Sofascore.com also has him as Brentford 's second best player this season, after Mbeumo.

Yeah, I thought Flekken had a pretty solid season. I wouldn't say GK of the season - I think Sels probably was, with a case to be made for Raya and Alisson, off the top of my head.

The further from the front of the pitch you get, the less reliable WhoScored is, and WhoScored is especially bad for goalkeeping.

Flekken is good, but he also looks a lot better because of how many shots Brentford give up (which augments his save numbers, which boost his WhoScored).

It's not particularly good for strikers either. The running joke is that it should be called whodribbled... I remember when they had Adama Traore as the best player in the PL after 10 games at Wolves haha so yeah take it with a grain of salt. But I still think going from Flekken to Kelleher is a downgrade.

So he’s available?
Per several outlets, not at all. Enrique loves him and again, he's the 4th offensive option on a team that plays 3 every game and competes in 3 different leagues. Hence his 40 goal contribution numbers (starting for 8 months, from the bench over the last 2).
That said, if an EPL team gets crazy and offers 100M+, would PSG think twice? Quite possible. I doubt it except for huge fee though.

City could find 100M+ in their couch cushions as long as it works for PSR.

It’s still a gamble. I realize they have Gakpo out on the left, but they would need to still get somebody.
Yeah they would. That wouldn’t be a problem though. They’re pretty much not gonna spend next summer other than one CB and they didn’t spend last summer. They’re gonna recoup at least 150m in sales. The money is burning a hole in their pocket.

Well yes but also that’s the only way United can pull players. Pay out the ass for mid talent. Terrible team with a terrible situation and has been for years.
Yeah there’s really nothing you can do about it. And imo the idea you can buy shit players who know Amorims tactics is a much worse idea. But some people got brainwashed into thinking that was cool. Not sure how they’d explain this.

I think the hope here is that these purchases bring some stability to the club. It’s been so damn toxic for so long, bring in these guys who know the PL and can stabilize it a bit and then when you have a solid foundation then you can start buying ceiling raisers. Granted the ceiling raisers could already be in house with guys like Yoro, Mainoo, Amad, Heaven, etc but you can’t throw these guys into the fire and expect them to perform.

Personally I think the players don’t matter too much as they lack direction. All it takes is one coach with a plan and a system in place then players can start elevating their game. Ala Klopp. Before him Liverpool was pretty much dead

I agree that the coach primarily sets whether it’s stable or not but I think it’s the players as well not buying into the coaches in place. I don’t think United have hired a bunch of world beaters but I believe they are on coach like 8 in the last 10-15 years. Can’t all be on the coaches. Hopefully Amorim can stay and get the most out of this group.
