2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

As someone who has watched a ton of EPL matches over the years, Diaz is thousand times the player Rashford is. Rashford isn't bad per se, but if I were a Barca fan, I would much rather pay more for Diaz than Rashford.
They can’t afford to pay more. Or rather they shouldn’t. Diaz is a lot better but for us to sell him would cost 80m at minimum.

What? When did Gyokeres play in the Premiership? He played in the Championship with Coventry where he did well.
He played for Brighton, but he might have been too young at the time.

Not sure what Barca's obsession with wingers is, they should focus on the defensive department.

I think we can with some sales. We shouldn’t though. Good player of course, but that’s a lot at his age.

Yeah, he was there, but never played in the league.

The season you referenced Nunez was 22, he was 21 when he joined Benfica the season prior.
Oops. Sorry if off by a year. But that means I’m also a year off on Gyokeres who played first UCL games this year at 26. I think?
I think it depends on who he joins, but again, he has experience in the Championship which I doubt is notably less physical than the Premiership. To the original discussion, I’d bet he’d have been better than Hojlund and Zirkzee for United.
I’m sure he would be better than the Utd guys too but that is a very low bar.

Man City and Bayern backed off because the supposed deals for him would reach 300 million Euros when everything is said and done.
LFC know what the price tag is. They called City and Bayern’s bluff and they are still standing. They need to get this done soon though. Wirtz would probably be a City player if Pep didn’t spend the Wirtz money in January. Bayern tried to do the Real Madrid Jedi mind trick and it didn’t work on Leverkusen

Bro, a deal this massive. You're looking at transfer fee, player wages, agent wages, percentage of sales to other clubs, photo player rights fees, kit fee, marketing fee, etc. This is the German transfer of Neymar.

I really like Wirtz, but not at 300 million Euros level of player.

I think you should consider that the clubs who didn’t get him are possibly whining and it doesn’t actually cost anywhere near that much

NP. You were actually right about Gyokeres though. He came when he was 25, but that was last season. This season he was 26 which you were also correct about in that you said he’s about to turn 27. Both players conveniently have June birthdays.

Agreed. I still think he’d do well enough in the right team. Arsenal being rumored, I think he’d get 20 goals with them in a full season if he stayed injury free. Of course that is a ways off his current numbers, but I wouldn’t expect him to replicate those.

I saw a stat where it pretty much said that Man United should have been relegated. If you take away all their points from the bottom three clubs, they would have been relegated at the same time as Soton was.
I'd have to check the math but the one I heard was they were a relegation team from the point of Anorim's hiring--ETH and Ruud's points were what saved them.

Ok but I asked if fans of other premier league teams would be jumping to take Gyokeres at that fee. How confident is everyone that he will tear up the premier league ?

Aside from the general fact that you can never be confident, there's definitely a risk to him and that's why I was at best lukewarm on him last summer for that money. The fact is though that we severely lacked an up front goalscorer all season and there isn't a perfect Cinderella for pennies just sweeping an attic somewhere. So at a certain point, some risk is going to have to be taken. Just have to trust the team to make the best of it at this point, but if the summer ends and we've still got Havertz and no one else, that trust will take a major hit

Allegedly, while Berta prefers Gyökeres, Arteta is more in favour of Šeško, and initial contact has been made with the latter

I actually think Arsenal is the worst spot for him. Arteta system/tactic is going to be making him do a ton of donkey work. All he does for Sporting is make runs through the half space

I guess we will see what level him is if he joins.

Al-Hilal coming in with 80m for Bruno Fernandes, who is apparently seriously considering the move. Would triple his salary. Agent is currently in Saudi Arabia.
Few things would overhaul the club more than getting rid of him. The danger would be that for the last few years he's kinda been the only one to unlock anything at all and without him they might legitimately have been in a relegation battle this year.
